Guesthouse Hóll — Hotel in Vestmannaeyjabær

😊: Good location next to the local brewery and all central services. Warm bathroom & water and we were the only guests using it even if a shared facility. Welcome beers from the said brewery.. 😢: We were quite disappointed with our stay on this last minute booking. The room was located in a cellar of the house and recently renovated and it looks "nice", but there seems to be no air ventilation except to open a small window, so air was damp and the room smelled moldy. There were long dark hairs in the bedsheets even if the room seemed clean. The fridge was quite loud at night. The coffee machine didn´t work (we´ve used multiple similar capsule machines), it seemed that the capsules were the wrong size or the machine should have been "reseted" of smth, but the hosts said in their response that it works fine.

If you have a car, be careful where you park at the backyard, since there are permanent residents´ private parking places there and the neighbours are quick to point out if guests end up parking on their area. We sorted out the thing by talking to them directly but apparently there´s no contact between the neighbours and the guest house owners about the matter. Perhaps this will be...

😊: Really excellent location, easy walk from the Ferry even with luggage. The house outside makes it look a bit like a horror movie, but the interior is really well done. Communication with host was excellent, we were able to store luggage there before check-in. Rooms were quiet even though facing the street, black-out curtains were good. As compensation for how the place looks on the outside there were two beers in the fridge for us! Nice touch!. 😢: While there was a TV, there were no Icelandic programs, just the ability to log into Netflix, YouTube etc. That was a bit disappointing as it would have been nice to see some Icelandic TV. Outside of that the place does look as if it were really run down on the outside, but that should be...

😊: I had an amazing stay! The host was incredibly friendly and very responsive when I reached out via email for some advice. The location is perfect—super convenient for exploring the area—just a few steps away from shops, bars, restaurants, grocery stores,... The apartment was very comfortable, and to my surprise, I was upgraded from a regular room to the apartment at no extra cost. I truly appreciated this kind gesture! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fantastic stay.. 😢: The room and bathroom could benefit from a bit more attention to cleanliness.
