Absolutely wonderful hotel!

The room we stayed in had the best temperature of any hotel we stayed in for our entire trip—it was very comfortable and adjustable if needed although we didn’t need to touch the thermostat except for by maybe half a degree C.

Bathrooms were gorgeous and functioned very well.

The location is also within walking distance from the ferry to the island. We had two large suitcases (we overpacked for sure) and we were able to walk them to the hotel with little issue (took us about 7 minutes). The hotel is also within walking distance of some incredible hiking trails if you go down toward the ferry and turn right just before the restaurant called Krain, head straight, and go up the rainbow steps. There are many things to see and do on the island within walking distance of the hotel!

They have breakfast included and a restaurant where you can buy dinner. Be aware that the restaurant is only open until 22:00 (at least when we went), which is surprising for Americans, and 21:15 was too close to closing for them to serve us (we got a little carried away hiking all day on the trails, haha). Not a problem with the hotel or restaurant at all, just something for Americans to be aware of! 😁

I was there for a three-day conference. I was able to walk to the hotel from the harbor after coming over on a ferry. I don’t know if the hotel has pick-up service. This was my third time on the island so I knew my way around. ||My cousin was supposed to join me but ended up cancelling so I kept the room reservation for two people instead of getting a smaller studio room. They let me check in early (around noon) which was nice. My room key card didn’t work after the first time so they gave me actual heavy metal keys. Even those were tricky. Probably time for a new door lock. My bed was comfy. Nice toiletries, mini bar, fridge, etc. My room got very hot so I left a window open most of the time (on the third floor so I felt safe). Their restaurant is the best in town with a great free breakfast. They also have two jet-less jacuzzis and a sauna in the basement. I was the only guest there when I used the area. ||They kind of gave me a hassle about checking out an hour later than usual which I requested because of a meeting. Quand vous partirez en Islande, si vous passez par cette île et dormez dans cet hôtel, après les mauvais hôtels islandais, enfin vous vous direz : oui c'est possible ! Dans cette partie du monde avoir un hébergement à un peu moins de 200€, 190€ exactement quand même, avec un confort moderne, ça existe !! En Islande la question se pose, enfin moi, je me la suis souvent posée vu les prix prohibitifs de ce pays.|Donc pour 190€ la chambre sup était de surface confortable avec un grand lit à l'italienne, comme très souvent dans les hôtels d'Islande, le vrai lit double et je ne sais pas pourquoi, est comme la voiture de tourisme sur la route, une exception.|Un bureau avec un grand écran plat et comme souvent pour ne pas dire toujours, il n'y a aucune chaine francophone.|Il y a un ascenseur et une salle jacuzzi dans l'hôtel. Le bémol et comme souvent voire toujours en Islande, le petit déjeuner est minable. Si vous avez lu d'autres critiques d'hôtels en Islande sur ma page, le matin n'a jamais été une fête à table pour moi et je m'étonne de lire certains, tout à fait contents des petits dej. Soit les avis sont achetés, soit les gens ne voyagent pas beaucoup. Quand les hôteliers pratiquent des politiques hors de prix pour la prestation faite, le visiteur que je suis peut se permettre d'être très critique. Cet hôtel n'échappe pas à la nullité du matin, le petit déjeuner plaisir, je l'attends encore : tomates tranchées, œufs tranchés, concombres tranchés, bananes tranchées donc noircies, gâteaux secs, les thermos pour se servir les boissons chaudes, la partie chaude de mauvaise qualité ... Le saumon au pays du saumon ? Ben non, y a pas. Le personnel du matin rentre et sort de la cuisine pour débarrasser les tables, c'est leur travail, un peu comme avec des œillères mais ce n'est pas spécifique à cet hôtel, on se demande s'il nous visualise. C'est souvent comme ça, il y a un manque de formation évident dans ce pays. Vous l'avez compris, comme partout dans le monde money is money mais les Islandais exagèrent très largement, ils cherchent avant toutes choses à faire un max de profit et la satisfaction clients aux oubliettes. Normal quand 20% de touristes viennent chaque année en plus sur le territoire, pourquoi faire mieux !!??||Conclusion : L'hôtel est moderne, bien décoré, il y a des efforts, les jacuzzis en accès gartuit, le rapport qualité/prix se rapproche de ce qui me paraît passable mais le petit dej vient dégrader mon appréciation. Malgré cela, l'hôtel est certainement un des meilleurs de l'île sinon il faut compter sur les guesthouses, mais pour en avoir testée 2 ailleurs, rien que l'idée de le refaire me donne le cafard. D'ailleurs c'est décidé, je ne le referai pas, les professionnels du tourisme m'ont suffisamment écœuré pour ne pas revenir en Islande, ni même conseiller la destination avant d'apprendre et de lire un changement politique clair dans le tourisme islandais.
