The room was clean and the self check-in process was simple and convenient. Also the location on the Island was great; close to the shoreline and right in the middle of the town, walking distance from the grocery store and a convenience store as well, and also super close to the ferry dock. It was also super convenient to have the parking right in front of the Inn, but spaces were somewhat limited so I could see it being a potential issue if the Inn is busier. Overall, our stay was good. Wifi worked very well and the kettle in the room was very handy to have. The shower worked well too and the water was warm. And the Inn itself was very quiet which was nice. However, the biggest issue we had was that the heating in our room was not working whatsoever (during Icelandic winter)! My friends and I were quite chilly in the room and had to sleep with sweaters on. That being said, the comforters on the beds were decently warm and definitely helped; but without them, we would’ve been very very cold in the room… Additionally there were no staff members present in the Inn at any point during our stay so we weren’t able to ask staff for extra toilet paper/towels or ask them for assistance with getting the heater to work. In all honestly, it was a tad inconvenient to not have any staff on site. Lastly, although we didn’t expect a kitchen or cooking space per say, it was also a little inconvenient to not have a microwave in the room. So be mindful of how you plan to eat/cook when booking rooms here. We ended up having to use a single burner camping stove outside to cook pasta and had no way or re-heating it… Overall we were pretty satisfied with our room and our time on the island, however some things, like the heating issues and lack of staff on site, left us a bit displeased.

What a nightmare. Ok, if you’re asking for a quarter of the price because you are still working on fixing the rooms and building I will understand it. But over priced for this condition is only because the are no other paces available. Please do not stay here. The lights are low. The electrical are a hazard for children and adults alike. The bathroom had no heating. The stairs are a nightmare. In the last year a didn’t find such a horrible place around the world. Too bad about the island and all it got. This kinds of experience some tell bad things about it over all. But no, only this location is to be avoided. For this kind of conditions I think you should not ask for money at all. I know Iceland is expensive, but when it got something to offer, this is a ripoff.

Smaller than a single college dorm, poor to non-existent (and always automated) contact with management. Looks nothing like the photos. Door keypad defective (and I have a technical background, so it's really bad). Overall - sucks. Do not waste your time here.

I was very disappointed in this hotel. There are only two hotels listed on Trip Advisor for the island and we wanted to stay three nights. After reading about both, I selected this one. I wish I had not. I reserved two rooms for the five of us to make sure we had enough room and five to six beds. I requested that we be next to each other. We drove all day to make our ferry to the island. We left Hofn area at 8 am, took an evening ferry and arrived on the island at 6:30 pm. We drove around searching for the hotel, finally asking someone where it was. It was impossible to find because it has a small door next to the tourist office/coffee shop which occupies the first floor. We walked in with our five bags and our kids and we were all tired. We wanted to check in and find dinner. There is no obvious reception. There was no one sitting anywhere to check us in. All of the rooms and doors were closed. We found a sign which said the check-in was on the third floor, so we lugged our luggage up the stairs to the third floor, but all the doors were closed. Finally, my husband went up to the fourth floor and found there were two rooms with doors open there and there were five beds between them. We assumed these must be our rooms. So, we brought our luggage up to them and prepared to leave for dinner. I was leaving a note on the door of the breakfast room, when a woman walked by with towels. It turned out that she was a cleaner and she could help us. We were not supposed to be on the fourth floor, but she had to make phone calls to find our rooms. Finally, she put us in smaller, not so nice rooms on the third floor. One of them was dirty with a dirty bathroom. We were very unhappy. We were there three nights. Breakfast is included and has many food options. Our kids liked breakfast. The woman who helps is overworked. They need to develop a reception and welcome approach that works better. The rooms we were in needed repairs, cleaning and improvements. The owner said by way of explanation that he is new. I would check to see if these improvements have been made before I...
