My husband and I were super hungry after taking the ferry here. We stopped in and ordered at the counter, the workers were so patient with us speaking English and asking lots of questions. I ended up ordering a hamburger and a side salad and my husband got a BLT (Icelandic style). I inquired about a chocolate bar while we were waiting and asked if it was Icelandic and they said yes and gave it to me for free to try. The food was very good and there was seating inside and outside on picnic tables. They brought the food out to us after it was cooked. We waited 30 minutes to get all of our food because our order “didn’t print,” even though I ordered twice. So, both orders “didn’t print”? A family of seven who arrived after us were able to eat first. Had we not followed up, we would have just kept waiting for nothing. I also had to follow up for my son’s drink. We were not offered any compensation for the long wait, and only received a quick “afsakið þetta” without even being looked at. The staff didn’t even say thank you as we were leaving, even though one of them was standing right next to our table. We had lunch here on the day we arrived in the Westman Islands. The restaurant is easily walkable from the ferry terminal and takes less than 10 minutes. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. Our waiter was super friendly and grew up on the island. He even helped us to plan how to spend our afternoon on the island and recommended a hike that we all loved.
