Had two pretty good experiences here. Came for afternoon coffee and cake; the caramel apple cake was fantastic. I appreciated that their whipping cream had some flavour and sweetness, as some countries just prefer to have whipped fat without vanilla or sugar. We came back for a group reservation for dinner, for which a reservation was absolutely necessary as there is not currently much open on the island after 16.00, even in the summer, likely due to the pandemic and the place was packed full. The staff was relatively friendly, though we did the soup and salad buffet and were told it would close at 20.00, even though the restaurant is open until 21.00. The three soups were good but we didn’t realize only vegan options were available. There was a good salad bar that had some fresh and canned fruits, pasta salads, bread and wraps. The bread unfortunately was very slow and limited to come out, and there was a lot of cross contamination between the salad bar containers so I would avoid it if you have a food sensitivity. We did ask the waitress for more bread around 19.30 and she said the kitchen was closed to baking bread. Overall, the food was good, the prices were fair, and it was a nice choice to go there before boarding the last ferry back to the mainland. They have good wifi and lovely single bathrooms.

Whilst I can see that Tanginn has many positive reviews, I didn't personally have a good experience. I thought the food was very, very bland. I chose the Indian lamb dish and it came with not one, not two, but three carbs - potatoes, rice, and bread. Nothing special about any of those, it's just standard boiled food and store bought naan. The side salad had no seasoning. Again, bland. The actual lamb was very tender, for sure, but the sauce it was in seemed bought in. I couldn't taste or even smell any spices. The speed with which dishes were being churned out of the kitchen also suggests that it's predominantly bought-in, store bought, reheated produce - mostly. Definitely not worth the price, and definitely nowhere near the quality of restaurants you find in Reykjavik. Totally disappointing. I would avoid here and go to a restaurant where the chefs, you know, actually cook with fresh ingredients.

Came here for lunch when we get off from the ferry, I ordered bacon burger and it comes with curly fries which was very tasty ( hot & crispy), the burger also tasted delicious, however I feel it had bit too much mayonnaise. The service was very good. I also came here for the a cup of coffee in the end of our trip ( waiting for the ferry). The coffee was very strong, I like it especially during the very chilly windy day. The cheesecake tasted ok, bit too sweet for me. I think it’s still a pretty good restaurant in general.

2025 REVIEW: The restaurant now has Indian chef and 90% of many items are Indian food. If you want to come to Iceland to eat Indian food, this place is for you! For us, we don’t want lam drowned in curry sauce. Service went downhill too. We will not be back and don’t recommend this place anymore. This should be categorized now as Indian food restaurant.

2023 REVIEW: We came here on a recommendation of our family member who visited Westman Islands months prior. The lady upfront was friendly and the reservation process over the phone was easy. However, we were seated in a table near bar. ALL tables hear windows were open. I went to hostess, who was a woman in her 40s or 50s with very blond hair above shoulders, and politely asked if we can be moved to the table hear window. She seemed a bit annoyed and asked me where we were sitting. I walked her to the table. She literally laughed at my face like I was an idiot and said no. The table hear bar you have is the same as the table near the window. And just left. I felt that her behavior was totally unnecessary. She could have said that: My apologies, I need to keep these tables open for other parties or something like that. There was no need to laugh at my request. Also, I don’t consider tables to be equivalent even if they are next to each other. One is near window and one is further from the window. A table a way. Totally ok, just her demeaning behavior was totally not necessary. The food was great! The drinks had no alcohol. The blueberry mojito was all ice with little mojito. I literally took 3 sips and it was gone. It’s the worst mojito I had in my life. Moscow mules were yummy but felt like they had no alcohol in them. I felt that all the window tables were reserved for locals. I saw the boat crew also sitting and drinking outside of this restaurant. Service was very slow/inattentive. So, good food, not good service, no alcohol in drinks/drinks not worth money paid, best tables are reserved for the locals, host can be demeaning. If you like this, this...
