Royal orchids is one of the 90+ hotels in 58+ locations charging Rs 150/- per cutlery supply unprofessionally will cost the economy just under Rs.15,000/- per meal a day. Costing a staggering $180,000 / customer each year for borrowing cutleries without food !! Is it fair ?? "I recently stayed at this hotel for 4 days due to medical complications while visiting from Australia. Despite some initial positive interactions with the ground staff and a helpful bus boy named Mr. Madhu, my overall experience was disappointing. One particular incident stood out. After a long day at the hospital, I returned to my room and requested cutlery for a home-cooked meal. To my surprise, I was told there would be a charge of Rs. 150 for this service. This left me puzzled and frustrated, prompting me to ask for an explanation from the manager. After numerous attempts to speak with the manager, I was met with excuses and lies from the front desk about returning my call. Eventually, I had a conversation with the manager, Mr. Zaheer Ahmad, who defended the cutlery charge by citing reasons like the presence of food delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato. His explanations, including the absurd notion that the hotel charges to prevent bad publicity from food poisoning, were unsatisfactory and unprofessional. This policy made me question the hotel's intentions and ethics. It felt like an attempt to extract more money from guests through questionable practices. I believe such tactics only serve to tarnish the hotel's reputation and make guests feel exploited. I've stayed at various hotels, both higher and lower in rating, and have never encountered such a disappointing approach. It's disheartening to see a 4-star establishment resorting to these tactics instead of providing genuine hospitality. I strongly advise the management to reconsider their policies. By charging guests for basic services like borrowing cutlery, they're driving customers away rather than attracting them. It's clear that this hotel prioritizes short-term gains over guest satisfaction and loyalty. On a positive note, I must commend an anonymous member of the middle management who attempted to rectify the situation by providing cutlery with an apology. This gesture speaks to the hotel's potential for improvement, provided they address these concerning practices. In conclusion, my experience at this hotel was marred by unprofessional policies and responses from management. I hope my review serves as a warning for other potential guests and encourages the hotel to reevaluate their practices." This hotel is from the horror stories. Here is why
The overall place was dirty. The rooms were first eg dirty curtains, dirty unclean dustbins, dirty shower curtain. ESP in times of covid, walking into a dirty room is putting off The service standards are worse than a cheap budget hotel. The staff is undertrained with no service standards - let me give you examples No one came to check me into the room or help with the luggage. When I checked in, my room key was not enabled. Thanks fully the housekeeping person was around he opened the door. On repeated requests to make the key active with the reception nothing happened. I kept calling and kept hearing it’s getting done and it didn’t. I was again locked out in the morning for the same Issue I was stepping out for an evening event and asked my room to be turned in. To my shock, I was told that it’s too late and housekeeping staff was not there and can’t be cleaned etc . It was 7.48 pm!! I was shocked to say the least and in seeing my reaction someone was sent up to make the beds. The room was still dirty! Worse was I got a call in the middle of the right (12.22 am). The lady on the other end was checking about my laundry!!!!’ I had given none. Was aghast to say the least that I was woken up rudely at midnight like it was 12.22 pm for a matter which didn’t concern me at all. I told her no and pls not to disturb, esp for a non life threatening matter such as someone’s laundry. Just as I hung up, the housekeeping staff calls again questioning me - why was I saying no for the laundry when in the morning I had given it. The funny part is, I had checked in only at 2 pm….morning happily away from this nightmarish place. Duty manager refused to meet me. I wanted to meet the head to share my feedback and the incident about the night. Nothing that cannot be sorted out with good customer etticates and training. However I was only left asking for him. The receptionist tried to later tell me he was the duty manager all of a sudden!
For 6000 rs a night, this place is a living hell. Actually for no money is such service acceptable. Pls spare yourself the horrible Experience. They need to shut down or sell. This is like an experience...
Read moreTLDR - AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ANY COST (Review after 5 stays, each 5-7 days long)
The rating that you see here are mostly from people who come here for an office party and leave after a dinner. The ratingts do not truly reflect if you are planning to stay here. Avoid this hotel at any cost.
I have stayed here for 5 times and every time the experience was bad, but this time they have hit the lowest of the low after denying me a room which I already pre-booked since they were completely sold out. How do you take multiple bookings for the same room.
Cons -
70-80% of the rooms are not renovated and are in a really bad state. If you are booking, get a renovated room (probability of which is very low).
The food is not upto mark, like what you expect in a 4-5 star hotels.
Extremely customer UNfriendly, no outside food allowed, no guests allowed. They will try to milk every penny that they possibly can out of you.
The towels are not spec white, half them are grey. You don't want to use a grey towel. Probably want something that is well washed.
The front and back gates are extremely difficult to understand for cabs and deliveries and customers. No markings on any of the gates. You will spend 30 mins with your cab just discussing which gate he is on. Not to mention a lot of time, the cabs are not let in or its just total confusion who is where, which means you walk to the gate almost everytime there is cab coming or a delivery guy coming.
The furniture in the room either doesn't open and if it does it doesn't close. Basically half of the furniture is broken.
The rooms have sticky flooring, not sure what the clean it with. But it leaves it sticky and the experience is not good.
Go to gym and you will release only 1 machine works out of 9. Just 1? How can a hotel gym be in such a bad state? Like we can understand if 10% things are non functional, but how can just 1 machine work out of 9 available machine. The grips are broken or missing on almost all dumbells.
There is constant construction work going on in nearby rooms which means you will hear that noises all or half of the time.
I literally have more things to say, but I am tired of writing.
Pros -
Near office, especially if you office is in EGL.
Cost can be managed...
