I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tiger Trail, a fine-dining restaurant located at the Royal Orchid Hotel on Old Airport Road, Domlur, Bengaluru. This restaurant, known for its elegant ambiance and flavorful North Indian, Mughlai, and seafood cuisine, offers a unique experience for both locals and tourists.
Upon entering, the first thing that caught my attention was the serene outdoor seating area. It is surrounded by lush greenery, providing a calming atmosphere. The setting feels like an escape from the bustling city, making it ideal for a romantic dinner or a special gathering with friends and family. The decor is classic, with warm lighting and comfortable seating that enhances the dining experience.
The menu at Tiger Trail is extensive, featuring a range of North Indian and Mughlai dishes. For starters, I opted for the Kakori Kebab and the Murgh Gulnar. The Kakori Kebab, known for its melt-in-the-mouth texture, was cooked to perfection with a blend of aromatic spices. The Murgh Gulnar, a chicken-based dish, was equally delightful, with tender, juicy pieces marinated in rich spices. The service staff were courteous and knowledgeable, providing helpful recommendations based on our preferences.
For the main course, I decided to try the restaurant’s signature dish, the Bamboo Biryani. This dish stands out due to its unique preparation style. The biryani, made with fragrant basmati rice, mutton, and spices, is cooked and served inside a bamboo shoot, adding a distinct flavor and presentation element. The aroma was enticing, and the taste was exceptional — each bite was a perfect blend of spices without being overwhelming. Alongside, I ordered the Nalli Nihari, a slow-cooked lamb dish known for its flavorful gravy. It was rich, tender, and complemented the biryani well.
The dessert options at Tiger Trail are just as impressive. I ended the meal with their Shahi Tukda and Orange Kulfi. The Shahi Tukda, a traditional Mughlai dessert, was crispy and soaked in a sweet, saffron-infused syrup. The Orange Kulfi was presented inside an orange shell, offering a refreshing and unique twist to the classic Indian dessert.
The restaurant also features a well-curated bar menu. For those interested in pairing their meal with drinks, the selection of wines and cocktails is extensive and complements the food well. I tried their signature cocktail, which was both refreshing and perfectly balanced.
While the food and ambiance were outstanding, there were some minor issues with the service. Although the staff were polite and attentive, there was a slight delay in bringing out the main course. Additionally, there were discrepancies with the billing, particularly in applying discounts or offers listed on third-party platforms. However, these issues were quickly addressed by the management.
Overall, my experience at Tiger Trail was memorable. The restaurant excels in delivering a fine dining experience with its authentic flavors, elegant ambiance, and attentive service. Despite some minor hiccups, it remains a great choice for anyone looking to indulge in North Indian and Mughlai cuisine in Bengaluru. The average cost for two people is around ₹2,000, which, given the quality of food and ambiance,...
Read moreThis place was one of my favourites in Mysore since I had moved here. Even after moving out of Mysore, we would go to this place atleast once everytime I visit Mysore. So today we had been to the restaurant for lunch with family. It was a pathetic experience today!! Firstly we were made to wait for over 10 minutes. I had to go and find someone from their team to visit our table to place our order. Atlast one of the senior ( I have seen him on my visits before) comes, irritated and somehow takes our order. And then the wait starts .. 20 minutes and still no food. There was a big group which had also come around the same time and they just had 3 servers! I haven't seen worse planning on a holiday. Coming to the food, spring rolls were re-heated while the corn soup was only a mix of cornflour and some veggies on top to make it "look" like a soup! You would not expect such a dish named as soup in a star restsurant. The senior server specifically suggests a spicy chicken curry which only tasted like water added to pudina chutney with chicken pieces in it. And the other curry that we took was paneer tikka, it was so sour and tasted uncooked slightly. I was so so disappointed with the food.. cannot expect such low grade food from a place like Metropolis!!!! After a lot of follow ups, we get tea which wasn't strong although we had requested specifically for strong tea, twice. And of course the bill, which came to 5k!! We were shocked to see the bill and 10% of service charge for such treatment. They were in a rush to clean the table. The moment my husband finished the rice on his plate, the server did not even ask and just picked the plate. We had requested to parcel the curry and he keeps it aside on some table. Till we pay and stand up to leave, noone comes with our parcel. While leaving, he comes running to ensure we have paid the payment online and we reminded him about the parcel along with giving him the feedback of such bad service. I go to the reception and raise my concern about the service and she tells me to go to a different place for the restaurant feedback. And then when we are near the exit, the server comes running behind with the curry parcel. We didn't take it after so much that happened. I see a manager standing outside with absolutely no interest to check if the customer is happy or not! The only delightful part of this lunch experience was the door-person at the entrance who welcomed us and helped to park the car. His smile was the best and he was the only one who seemed to be interested to have guests. Conclusion - if you are staying at this hotel, maybe you might have a good experience but if you are going there for lunch or dinner - please go at your own risk!! You would get a one star experience (food and service) with a 7 star bill. This place is removed from...
Read moreThe Tiger Trail restaurant is part of the Royal Orchid hotel located on the old airport road. It's got a nice cozy ambience with multiple small shelters and each shelter has one table along with curtains on the sides. You get a really spacious feel and since the entire shelter is to yourself, you get good privacy as well.
We ordered a Lassoni Malai Murgh and a Murgh Makhmali Kebab as appetizers. The malai murgh tasted nice but the food server was cold and had lost it's freshness. We asked the waiter to re-heat the appetizers and that took ages, we were left waiting for a considerable time.
In Main-course we ordered a Kadhai Murgh and a few Amritsari Kulchas. A portion of kadhai murgh has 4-5 pieces of chicken which is good, but the quantity of gravy served is just too less and inadequate. Amritsari Kulcha is basically small circular pieces of Kulcha having a stuffing of boiled potatoes inside. They were quite fulling and had a nice taste as well.
Service at this restaurant is extremely slow and unimpressive. We had to wait for ages for our order and had to repeatedly ask for some basic things like water, plates, cutlery etc.
All this at an expensive restaurant like this housed inside a 5 star property was definitely not expected. Not a memorable experience for us and the management definitely has a...
