Turns out, I got exactly that, just not in the way I imagined. My first choice, the Grand Hyatt, was fully booked, so I settled for Marriott, naively confident that its glittering stars would deliver a seamless experience. We checked in late at night, expecting a smooth start. The staff assured us our luggage would be delivered to the room, so off we went, unaware that our belongings had been abandoned in the lobby like unsupervised children at a mall.
