During my recent family vacation in Kochi, I stayed at the Kochi Marriott Hotel. Kochi Kitchen is open for 24hrs, it serves, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & snacks. The ambience of the restaurant is really good! During my stay I had dined their buffet breakfast, buffet dinner & À la carte lunch. À la carte Lunch: I will start with my review for À la carte lunches that we had during our stay. I had tasted Aloo Jeera Methi (Potato, Fresh fenugreek & Tempered Cumin), Dal Makhani (Black Lentils, Tomato & Butter), Laccha Paratha, Garlic Nan, Khichadi, Iced Tea (Lemon Flavour), Burnt Garlic Fried Rice & Penne Arrabiata (Tomato, Basil & Chilli Flakes). Aloo Jeera Methi & Dal Makhani was amazingly delicious. Garlic Nan, Khichadi & Burnt Garlic Fried Rice was good too! Penne Arrabiata was freshly made in front of us & in my opinion, it’s one of their signature dishes. Iced Tea with Lemon flavour was a refreshing drink & goes well the meal! Buffet Dinner: The restaurant offers lavish buffet dinner! It offers a variety of foods from different cuisines mainly North Indian, Malabar, Chinese, Italian & many more. I had tasted most of their vegetarian offerings in the buffet. My favourites were Tomato Dhaniya Shorba, Tomato Basil Soup, Dal Fry, Curd Rice, Mixed Vegetables, Aloo Mutter ki Sabji, Phulke, Veg Hakka Noodles, Pizza with Cheese & mixed vegetables, & variety of sweets in the dessert. On asking they do provide Phulke, what else you can ask for! Buffet Breakfast: Again they offered lavish breakfast that includes foods from Continental, North Indian, South Indian, etc. In South Indian options, I liked their Masala Dosa, Medu Wada, Soft Idly, Sambhar was always delicious, awesomely good Tomato Chutney & Green Chutney! In North Indian options, I had also tasted their Aloo Paratha, but it was bland. I liked their Samosa with appropriate fillings of potato with other vegetables & spices. Overall, I liked their food, the ambiance of the restaurant. The staff takes better care of their guests.

My dinner buffet at Kochi Kitchen was a major disappointment, especially after experiencing buffets at prominent hotels in Kochi such as Le Meridian, Crown Plaza, Four Points by Sheraton, and Marriott, all within the past two months. Sadly, I have to say Marriott’s Kochi Kitchen lags behind in every aspects from food choices to ambiance. Ambiance: Marriott is the only hotel sharing its Lobby area with their primary restaurant which is Kochi Kitchen. Lobby totally lacks the luxurious ambiance and signature fragrance typically found in high-end hotels. Price: Marriott offers the most expensive buffet among the four, priced at ₹2000 plus 18% GST on weekdays. In contrast, the other three hotels are priced from ₹1400 to ₹1800 plus 18% GST. Food: Hot food offerings were pretty similar in number when compared to all the restaurants I visited, leaving no justification for the higher price. Dessert section is hopeless with artificial flavoured tasting cakes, mousses, and panna cottas. What stood out the most was the lack of attention to detail—there were no small spoons provided for the mousses and panna cottas served in tiny cups, which felt like a sign of laziness. Unlike other restaurants, there were no live cooking stations with chefs to be found. There’s definitely a need to include some refreshing cooler drinks in the buffet. Service: Finally, I felt that Marriott’s biggest shortcoming was in their service. No one checked with us to see if we were interested in the live food options available that night, nor were these options displayed anywhere in the restaurant. It's hard to fully experience a buffet without this level of customer-oriented service. Overall, I would rank Marriott’s Kochi Kitchen as the worst and Four Points by Sheraton’s The Eatery as the best.

Visited on a Wednesday @ 2.00 PM. Only a handful of tables were occupied, finding a table was a breeze. Apart from the aglio olio pasta (part of the live menu) nothing was particularly exciting. The chicken was dry in most of the dishes, i had to douse the oven roasted fish in sauce to help me swallow it. The malabari chicken biriyani was a humongous let down thanks to the freehanded use of whole spices. The chinese cauliflower was dry and chewy. The live menu had chicken 65, squid roast and fish (sardine/mathi if my memory serves me right) fry. Tried the first two which was good to say the most. The saving grace was their arabic dips and platter & their butter roti which was light, fluffy & truly the best I've had ever. The dessert spread was huge, but nothing really stood out from the crowd apart from a circular coconut-based pastry with pink frosting (can't remember the name). Service was efficient, chef was kind enough to check on us. Would I recommend you to try the buffet? No, not at full price. If you have a Swiggy One membership, then you can pre-book a table for 35% discount on the total bill, then Maybe Yes. This is what I did & recommend you do the same. Tbh, I'd rather suggest you skip the buffet and visit their stellar restaurant on the 1st floor "Cassava". PS : Photo is of a not-seen-before "Pineapple Chicken Rasam" soup/ Something unique and much appreciated.
