Though the ratings were very high for this homestay, and hence we booked it, the reality was a little different. For the amount the homestay charges, it was a good experience, depending on what you're looking for.||The homestay is located in a location that is not accessible for the last 300 metres or so by any vehicle so you have to make it on foot.||||The drawbacks are the constant loud noise post 6.30 am from the tenements next to it, especially from the room we were given on the first floor. You do not need any alarm if you want to rise at that hour, not can you sleep after it. So rest assured, you will be up in time for sunrise everyday, if that is your thing.||The establishment is run by a family, or so the owner informed us, which means breakfast is only post 8 am and some of the items like cornflakes, museli are always out of stock. No facility for tea is provided if you want an afternoon cuppa as we were told the helpers were asleep at that hour. The room cleaning is not done everyday and we had to request it after staying for 2 days. There are no toiletries except a small bar of margo soap, so do carry your own toiletries, though they provide towels. ||||On the positive side, it's good deal for the amount they charge. The rooms and bathroom is big and clean. The food is freshly cooked on order and it was tasty. The rooftop terrace has a lovely view and vibe - on one side is the Mehrangadh fort, very close up, and at breakfast time, the terrace is frequented by a variety of birds, including the sunbird and the...
Read moreThe owner is very nice and friendly, offering great advice on places to visit. The location is good, at walking distance from the fort and near many restaurants.
We had initially booked a room without A/C, thinking it would get cooler by this time, but the room quickly became warm, as we arrived, the weather was still hot. The owner kindly showed us other available rooms, and we were able to switch to one with better ventilation.
The rooftop breakfast was lovely, with a great view of the city. A small note for improvement: as the kitchen had just reopened at the end of the low season, the furniture and setup weren’t completely refreshed. Similarly, many restaurants were closed due to the off-season, and we were unable to dine for dinner at the hotel.
The owner also helped us book a tuktuk to get around the city. Overall, Karma Homestay is cosy, welcoming, and makes for a pleasant...
Read moreStayed here during December end which was the peak holiday season and hence the high price. But given the price i didn't find the place worth it. It is in very narrow lanes of the blue City and doesn't even have a proper space for even a 2 wheeler to come. The room and washroom were big and fine. But given the price one also expects atleast decent bed linen and cleaned quilts during winters. They were short of proper cleaned linen and blankets and hence the less points on service. Only plus is the location which is near clock tower and the fort inside the core of blue City. But I won't recommend this homestay given the lack...
