This is an awesome place. It's a 17 room 3 storied 500+ years stone built haveli converted into a home stay having an in house vegetarian restaurant. Owned and managed by young brothers Arpan and Darpan, The staff is friendly and attentive. Rooms are spacious and well laid out.
Their Suite rooms located on the highest floor are the highlight, each of these suites has 10 windows, artful murals and paintings and offer spectacular views of the old city and Mehrangarh Fort which is located at walking distance. Other smaller but well maintained rooms are on the lower floors. Rooms have cable TV and air conditioner. Heaters and hair dryers are provided on request.
Since the place is located in the old city having ancient layout., the streets are narrow and congested- you can at-most ride a bike or hail an auto rickshaw, 4 wheeler vehicles may not reach the property and there's not much space for parking. The property does not have an elevator and has steep stone steps which one needs to climb carefully. I would only recommend the basic rooms on the ground floor for aged people, people having difficulty in walking or adverse medical conditions.
The restaurant serves good Indian and continental dishes mainly vegetarian food-only egg dishes available for non vegetarians and beer and a limited stock of alcohol, there are local shops selling sweets and kachori around the property but you may have to visit a restaurant in the New city for non veg food and more variety of alcohol. There also is no room service. Meals are served in the restaurant on the first floor.
The place is centrally located to major tourist attractions and traditional markets but you will have to hail an auto rickshaw for any work outside and auto fare is minimum Rs 70 one way even for short distances.
Good place for tourists who don't mind a basic room without room service, no parking and are comfortable walking stairs and nearby tourist spots. Not good for business/ travellers who may expect more facilities or want accessible locations and for aged or challenged people having...
Read moreWe had a very nice stay here. The staff and the beautiful common areas are particular strengths.||Room: our room on the top floor had a marvelous view of the fort above and the blue city below. The room was spacious, with ample electrical outlets. The bed was large and comfortable. Water pressure and heat in the shower were good, though the water heater needed to be turned on 20 minutes before using. For reasons unclear to me, the sound of a water pump was constantly audible, though I fairly quickly habituated to it. The wall decorations were brightly colored to say the least; some might call them garish, but I rather enjoyed them. Note that the top floor requires walking up four steep staircases.||Ambiance: the common areas (a courtyard and an interior common room) are quite lovely. The interior room has an attractive and interesting collection of artefacts. Our room was as soundproofed as could reasonably be expected, but the neighborhood is noisy, with a cacaphonous symphony of singing, scooters and barking dogs audible at all hours. Bring earplugs.||Food: note that breakfast is not included, but, as seems to be the case everywhere, the prices were quite reasonable. We ate dinner here twice and the food was tasty. The restaurant is open all day, and Western and Indian options are available. Nearby Blue Street Cafe is probably the best of the three neighborhood restaurants we tried.||Location: an easy walk to the fort and to some of the iconic blue houses. The hotel is set back from a busy, chaotic road. Dining options in the immediate area area limited but decent.||Staff: this is a definite strength. All the staff, especially Sunil, were unflaggingly cheerful and helpful, and spoke enough English to allow us to be...
Read moreSituated amidst the chaotic (and sadly, sometimes unclean) streets of Jodhpur's historic city, Singhvi's Haveli is a minuscule haven of tranquility, order, and cleanliness. Among the greatest hotels (havelis, in particular) if you wish to learn more about Jodhpur's history. With its distinctive décor and the warm, welcoming service of Mr. Arpanji and Mr. Darpanji and his staff, this haveli was incredibly appealing. Note that this is an old haveli, therefore there are some problems, notably with the steep steps. The uniqueness of the building is enhanced by the steep stairs that lead to the rooms and rooftop dining area. The common room's couch area with the swing was our favorite. The atmosphere and the rooms are very cozy, tidy, and upbeat.|The hotel's patio offers the ideal view of the well-known Mehrangarh Fort, which is breathtaking beneath the gorgeous night sky. There's nothing like the view from the rooftop. You can see Jodhpur's entire city as well as the stunning fort. The ideal site is near the Jodhpur fort. Fort is a short stroll away. However, because of the tiny road lanes, which prevent cars from entering and causing traffic jams, you will need to take an auto rickshaw to get here. Mr. Darpanji, the owner, was incredibly helpful and kind while arranging for a car for sightseeing. The only minor complaint is that the wifi was limited to the common areas and not available inside the rooms, otherwise the rooms are very clean and comfy.|Recommended for the Family...
