I absolutely recommend this homestay! It's located in a nice and quiet place of Fort Kochi, led by an absolutely warm & friendly couple with 2 children, who really care for you. Living under the same roof with them is a great experience. You can reach all the important places in Fort Kochi by foot. Reservation was absolutely hassle-free. We stayed here two times, some days in december 2015 and some more days in january 2016 and we would always return to this place!
We had a super clean A/C room with big bed and clean bedding, even the bathroom was super clean (truly remarkable in India). Nearly all looks newly done or well maintained. The A/C is new and works without problems. We enjoyed the tasty traditional Kerala-style breakfast (they serve it spicy/hot or normal). If you prefer it (who really does?), you can as well have western-style breakfast. They will also order tickets for various cultural events (like Kathakali dance-performances, where we got the best seats), trips to other places (e.g. Backwaters) and call taxis/rickshaws (which then charge only standard fares, not the usual tourist-cheating-fares) and they surely will do a lot of other things for you. Side-note: They also sell chilled mineral-water in-house. There's no TV in the room (although there once must have been one, the cables are still there), we surely would have appreciated watching indian TV, but this is no real show-stopper.
Since we wanted to return to their homestay some weeks after our first visit, the room we had was reserved for us for that time, even though we did not exactly know our return-date. And we were even allowed to store some of our winter-clothes at their place, so that we didn't have to carry them with us around India. A great...
Read moreExtremely clean, comfortable AC room on the first floor, with a little balcony, at a very affordable price. Comes with breakfast (a typical Keralan breakfast, or eggs and toast, with very good coffee and tea). We were given the largest bath towels, long sheets for the bed, and an extra bed for our daughter. The family, very friendly and kind, organised for us a session of ayurvedic massage (the father took us there in his car), and provided also information on the Kathakali performances in town (the short, tourist-oriented ones, with explanations of the make up etc.). They also advised how on how and when go to the beach on Vypeen Island, what was the best manner to reach Ernakulam station, and on many other activities and things to see in Kochi. We had...
Read moreWe happened upon this gem by luck and chance and have returned here twice in addition to our initial visit, 10 days in total. It has been a great base from which to explore this historic part of the city and a refuge when tired or hot. A bonus is a lovely, shady and private balcony. The facilities are clean and simple. The family have been very helpful and welcoming without being intrusive: perfect for us. Easy to walk to any place in Fort Kochi, the next door cafe serves a...
