Disappointed by the Service and Attitude

We recently visited Gelato Pillai in Fort Kochi, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The owner didn’t even make eye contact or greet us — it felt like we were being judged simply for dressing casually. No one deserves to be treated with that kind of coldness, regardless of appearance.

To make matters worse, there were no options to sample the gelato before buying — something that’s standard at most gelato or ice cream places. The flavor selection was also very limited, which made the lack of sampling even more frustrating.

For a place located in such a culturally rich and welcoming area like Fort Kochi, this kind of behavior stands out in all the wrong ways. Sadly, this shop is becoming a brand ambassador for bad service and a rude customer experience — not the kind of reputation Fort Kochi deserves to be associated with.

What a wonderful place for Gelato while you are in Fort Kochi area. The place is run by a cute hospitable couple, Ruben and Elina. The owners have spent time in Milan, so that's where they probably learnt the tricks of the trade. We walked in late Friday and were pleasantly surprised with the authenticity of the Mulberry flavor - pretty intense. They apparently use real fruit to create these artisanal Gelatos. The owners were kind enough to offer us a taste of the Mango and Cashew flavors as well. Absolutely pleasing to the senses. To add to it all, Ruben and Elina have really interesting tales to tell about their journey from Milan to India. Hope to visit again whenever we are in Kochi....

Had ordered double scoop of both mango and pistachio. But we had no clue that they would serve the entire order in one paper cup. Maybe they ran out of cups. But at least they should have asked if we wanted to mix flavours. Also u wondered how double scoops of 2 flavours that’s 4 scoops fit in one tiny paper cup. When asked they said they serve it like that only. Never had the chance to taste the ice cream since we really didn’t want mixed flavours so we gave it back. Money lost. And don’t intend to go back. At least information could have been given to the customer...
