For Kochinites it's not just a beach it's an emotion. But nowadays the beach is not maintained well and in a pathetic condition. The authorities should look into it and could take necessary steps to make the beach beautiful and attractive to tourists. During winter the waves will touch almost close to the land nearby. Also some areas of the beach we get bad smells. Chairs are not properly maintained they could arrange for some security staff to make sure people are following the rules correctly. Apart from that the beach is a major attraction for those who are visiting Kerala. There are lots of beautiful locations that are near the beach . The old buildings, British colonial things etc still have their own charm. If authorities consider this to maintain there is a huge chance to develop tourism in kochi.

Visited here in March, 2018. This was my second time to visit India, and chose the south part of India rather than the north part I had visited before. From what I had heard, tourists like coming to Kochi mainly for the back water tour. Certainly it is your duty, and also I wanna personally recommend walking along the coast of Arabian Sea, feeling the beach wind and wave sounds. Unlike other busy cities like Delhi or Varanasi, Kochi is pretty calm, and a great destination where you can be in the nature. Around this beach, you have lots of things to do: Seeing the traditional way of fishing by a unique net, Learning and feeling the history related to Portugal, Having glorious view of the sunset over the Arabian Sea, Enjoying street foods in the exotic but peaceful atmosphere, and lots of other stuff.

The beach is not very hygenic. So we didn't venture in to the sea. It's a very small stretch n dirty too. Visit it just because it's next to Chinese fishing nets.Fort Kochi Beach: Kochi Beach - See 1046 traveller reviews, 900 candid photos, and great deals for Kochi (Cochin), India, Vijayakumar, secretary, DTPC, Ernakulam. ... This beach is a very well maintained pleasant beach with amazing sunrise view. Great for a long walk alongside Fort kochi. Peppered with local markets, fresh fish shops, this is the quintessential Indian beach family experience. To note this beach is not something with a coastline, so you cannot walk on the sand but you do have a raised walkway which let's you enjoy the sound of waves and various views. Don't miss the ferry experience to Vypin Beach to experience a beautiful sunset and do eat at Seagull and Fort Kochi hotel.

Nice place to spend an evening and watch the sunset. A cool breeze will welcome you. The beach is not clean and if you walk along you can find variety of household items carried by the sea. The Chinese fish nets are there and they sell the fish in evening, you will find variety of sea food which you can carry home and cook or can get it cooked there and eat. I have seen some public gatherings and random dance performance there ( dunno how often it happens). If you want a better clean beach go to chirai beach.

I think Ganghi would be saddened by the sight of this beach bearing his name. He would probably wanted a refund. Very dirty, trash everywhere, disgusting smell. Sooo many annoying vendors on both sides of walkway trying to sell you useless stuff. Cannot even walk to the shore, swimming or even walking in the sea is absolutely not an option. Not only it is existential to avoid stepping into heaps of trash, it is also banned here. Wonder why. No point visiting.
