Fusion Bay — Restaurant in Kerala

We went to fusion based off reviews and turned up at 6pm when it was closed, the manager told us to come back at 7:30pm when they open for dinner which we did. We arrived at 7:32 to be precise and the restaurant was full, when I asked he said they opened at 6:30 so a tad confusing but luckily we only waited minutes for a table.

We got sat down and ordered our food (aubergine curry, mushroom meal (thali), and a few sides). We got served a complimentary pumpkin soup which was good and so our expectations for the mains were high. We then proceeded to wait an hour for our food. The odd part was that many tables arrived after us and were getting served and even payed and left before we did! We heard other tables complaining that they were waiting for some things to be served also.

When the food did arrive I had to send back one of the mains as it was incorrect which left my wife eating her meal alone for another 10 min. Eventually all the food arrived and honestly was not blown away. The aubergine curry didn't taste of anything and the mushroom meal was not bad but nothing to write home about.

I think we would have rated this slightly higher however the service was just awful. Throughout our entire wait we did not get a single apology for the delay or even a thank you when paying the bill or when we left. It was almost as if we were an inconvenience to the staff and they couldn't wait for us to leave. The manager especially when handing us our bill did not even say a word , he just put the bill on the table and walked away, and the same when he came back with the change.

We have been travelling all over India for a month and this was by far the worst service we have experienced. I understand that sometimes there can be a language barrier but a smile is universal and wouldn't go amiss here. Do yourself a favour and try somewhere else where they would be happy...

Terrible service !! Owner doesn’t care for his clients!! Overated and certainly overpriced for what you get !!

Apart from the food, which was tasty, there was nothing positive about my experience in this restaurant.. It was full when I arrived, I was offered a table outside. After ordering my meal I asked one of the staff to move me inside as it was incredibly hot! I’ve seen several people getting out but not me or the other several people waiting were led in. Asked a second and a third time to take me inside, to which I was told of course. My food eventually arrived and I demanded to put me in a table inside, finally I got some reaction.. Inside 4 tables were empty!!! From that to wait 20min to have one more dosa brought to the table, watching many customers trying to call the attention of the waiters unsuccessfully due to total lack of organization of the staff !! Empty tables forever waiting to be cleaned with a line of customers outside…. On top of that they served me my brownie with mostly liquid ice cream (you never warm it up in the same plate you serve with ice cream !!)… a disaster ! When I went to pay I talked with the owner calling his attention to these serious flaws and my discontentment with the service to which he didn’t even listen… he had his restaurant full anyway so he was making profit…

We went to this mid range dining restaurant on 23 Nov 2023 for lunch. We had reached by 1435 hrs and there was waiting period of about 20 min. Restaurant is located on ground floor and separate parking is not available. Ambience wise place is ok with simple vintage decor (8/10). It has adequate seating and can accommodate 30 people, and does appear slightly congested (7/10). Restaurant Staff is courteous, polite and well behaved, and was very helpful and cooperative despite some language barrier (9/10). Menu includes multiple cuisines which consists of both traditional kerala cuisines and portugese fusion cuisines (9/10). Service was prompt and My orders arrived hot and in reasonable amount of time. (9/10). We tried paneer pollichatu, fish mango curry, appam and lassi which were prepared well and were mouth watering tasty. (9/10). Quantity wise they were filling for two - three persons.(8/10). washroom is located on first floor separately in a domestic style but is well maintained, clean and hygienic.
