Ajantha Regency Hotel — Hotel in Perumanoor

My wife and I stayed at Ajantha Regency at Cochin from October 25th to November 1st 2014. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, the AC's worked fine, the ambiance was perfect. For the first couple of days we ate out as we were apprehensive about the cooking at Ajantha and we wanted only Vegetarian.||However, as it was raining heavily on the third day and we were very tired to venture out, we ordered room service. We found it to be quite good but the quantity could have been better.||All the staff have a sweet smile on their face and are very pleasant. The young team is providing world class service.||Cons: The hot water supply is not regular, we have to keep calling reception but even then it is very erratic. The wash room in 201, always used to stink and we found it to be disappointing. By closing the toilet door all the time we were able to manage||Overall experience: if you can overlook the small problems, it is one of the best places to stay. Friendly helpful staff. Stayed several nights ar this hotel. It was very clean and had lots of hot water. The electricity would go out occasionally, but a back-up generator would come on. There was a secure place to park and the staff was very helpful and friendly. There was breakfast each morning but besides bread, butter, jelly & watermelon, it was local fare, and the menu was whatever the cook wanted to serve.😜 The hotel was a short walk to several restaurants and about 3 blocks from Medical Trust Hospital at the Pallimukku Jct (MG Rd & Church Landing Rd). It is a nice walk to Subhash Bose Park on Marine Dr, and a block from St. George’s Catholic Church. The bridge to Willingdon Island and Kochi proper was just a few blocks. Booked this hotel through OYO. Surprised to see it doesnt meet any OYO standards. Highly disappointed. There was a bad smell once i opened room. Rooms are not clean as u can see in the images below. Price is also high on oyo app and around 1400 if u book at hotel. Mosquitoes & cockroaches are present in rooms. Hot water will not come. You have to call the reception repeatedly and you have to sit in the bathroom till it comes. Tv is of onida company and is not HD. A/c is centralised. You have to switchon, adjust temp and go to bed. They call u by 9am and irritate you calling every 5mins askin you to checkout the room. Only adavantage is its near to pallimukku junction. Dont get fooled by the images you see in oyo app or google. Not worth the money you pay. Would never recommend this...
