The Residency Club — Hotel in Pune

Organised a wedding function with lot of hopes at this venue. I must say the banquet services and the food served by them has become worse post covid. They are trying to extort money from their clients by charging exorbitant per plate charges and serving the left over food from the previous functions as their menu is fixed. I am narrating the incidences below so as to help people who are planning to organise functions at this club to make an informed decision-

We had organised a wedding function at the residency club on 15th & 16th May,2022.

This was the third function I had organised at this venue in the last 3 years, includes a engagement party for almost 100 guests and a birthday party for more than 50 guests.

Since I had good experience with them in the previous 2 occasions, I decided to organise the third function also at this venue.

I know for most of the hospitality industry things have been on the downside for last 2 years due to Covid, however now since the things are back to normal, one would expect the same kind of services even though the rates have been increased multifold.

My first bad experience - The Banquet manager and his coordinates - absolutely untrained to handle customers, not blaming them, however I am assuming that they have strict instructions from their management to extort money in whichever way possible from their prospective clients by way of adding some nonsensical charges for each and every function you plan to organise.

3 days before the function, the banquet manager wants to revise the per plate rates because I had asked them for different preparation of just 2 of the menu items- mind you, it was not an additional inclusion in the menu but just a change in preparation- wanted bengali style preparation of mutton and fish for the wedding day.

On the day of cocktail- the 15th May, 2022, as per the contract with them, the starters were to be served for 1.5 hours, the waiters were purposely serving it very very slowly for less consumption so they can serve less and make more money. They served stale food ( stored from previous day’s functions/events) as they have a fixed menu and force the customers to choose from the same. When few of the guests pointed it out, they went on defensive. The manager later came and apologised promising a better service for the next day. Also forced me to sign and fill up a feedback form in the middle of the night.

Next day , 16th May,2022, Haldi function was held in the morning and I was assuming since these guys have promised better service, all things would go smoothly. To my surprise they again served stale food. The mutton and the sweet dish were stinking. When we pointed it out, they apologised and asked permission to change the dishes. This left me fuming and with a bad impression in front of 80 guests. I let it go again hoping they would improve for the next function because their manager came and assured me.

The showtime, wedding night, 16th May,2022. Things were smooth on the food side however got the biggest shock of my life when we saw the decorations for the venue. Let me give you a background on the decorations- YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GET A DECORATOR OF YOUR CHOICE. RESIDENCY HAS A TIE UP WITH TWO VENDORS AND YOU ARE FORCED TO CHOOSE ONE OF THEM. The most surprising part is, the decoration charges are exorbitant and higher the the venue and food charges. I paid almost twice the amount I paid for venue and food.

To my utter surprise, the decorator did not deliver what was promised to us by showing pictures.

These guys are scamming people and running a racket. The trustees of the club are all Civilian Award receivers from the Govt of India including the chairman of Symbiosis institutes.

Please take a note of this and be aware. You are being looted and being fooled. Never ever get into a deal...

i will keep it simple.. this place is HAUNTED !! It is abt 23rd Sept 2022.. I checked in around 2pm in d room 114 ! The place seemed good..n i was happy to have choosen the Residency Club.. but these feelings soon changed as soon as i entered this room 114.. the feeling was eerie.. i dont knw how to describe it but there was something no so positive about it..as soom as i entered i took a stroll around the room n then went to the washroom.. the door was a sliding door and it continued to slide open despite all my efforts to close it. i considered it to be some defect and ignored it and paced towards the bed to sleep.. as i myself being a doctor was tired after a hospital night duty.. I turned on d tv on low volume.. n got cosy in my bed.. i fell asleep for a good 1.5hrs after which i was awakened by a sudden increase in the volume of the TV.. i was startled to see the volume up sign on the tv and the voluming getting raised up all by itself while the remote was lying there right beside me not even pointing in the direction of the tv.. (i have a video of the same.) it scared the hell out of me.. i googled if this residency club was haunted n to my surprise it actually turned out to be haunted.. there's a haunted mansion just beside the residency club... i went to the counter and reported the complete incident to the staffs sitting at the reception but they seemed to take it quite casually.. I went back to my room to get ready and when i went to the washroom n locked the door, it opened despite the latch being locked. it freaked me out. i got ready asap and left the room. Meanwhile the card of the room was left inside by me n i locked myself out.. When i returned back around 12am to d room with the hotel staff to open the door with master key.. i was shocked to see smoke all around..(i have a video of this too.) The staff was also shocked and told that it was because of me having left the card inside the slot, which makes no sense because even if i would have been inside the room n locked it from inside, the card would have still been placed in the slot itself to activate the electrical supply to the room. When the hotel staff checked for any kind of short circuit responsible for the smoke, no evidence was found and all the appliances were working well. On being asked to allot us with some other room, they denied and also didnt provide us with any refund. We had to share some other room with our guests for the night..
