Bedolo Bungalows — Hotel in Gili Air

We stayed at Bedolo Bungalows for 4 nights and were very pleased with our choice. We arrived a bit early (around 11am) but could already move to our two bungalows (check-in is usually at 2pm). We were greeted with fresh orange juice which was well needed after the warm speed boat journey. The bungalows are spacious and a/c works. We received fresh towels (for beach and bathroom) upon request without problem. Bungalows were cleaned once during our stay which was totally fine. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11. You can choose from Toast with jam, omelette/scrambled eggs or pancakes + fresh juice or fruit salad + coffe or tea. Good quality. Also Lunch and dinner is available at Bedolo but we did not try it as we preferred to have dinner at the beach. The bungalows are located close to the center of the small island just a short walk from the harbour (max 5 min) and from east and west side beaches (5 min + depending on where you want to go). There is a mosque or at least the respective loudspeaker closeby which means you will hear the prayers - also at 4 am. But this didn't really bother us. for the rest of the night it was extremely calm and quiet. The staff was always super friendly and helpful. You can rent bikes for 40K a day or 25K for half a day ;) the bikes are not the newest but good enough to get around the Island. There is also a small shop that belongs to the Bungalows where you can get everything you need. All in all we had a nice time. Very good...

We had a week planned here originally but the nearby mosque is so loud that you can't ignore it. Particularly over the weekend when Friday prayers start at 4am and continue for roughly 2 hours over a very loud crackly loudspeaker. During the week it's a lot quieter and actually plesant to hear the singing, but we were so cranky over the weekend we booked somewhere else on a different island to escape even though our booking here is nonrefundable - not that I blame them, they have a living to make and can't control the sound level! |Overall the rooms are nice and spacious, bathroom is an outdoor one but was fine for us. The aircon struggles during the day with the heat but works well at night and the netting helped too so we were comfortable. You have to ask for fresh bins, towels etc if you want them every couple of days but that's fine. The staff are mostly friendly, but we were happy to be left to our own devices. The pool area is lovely and the garden too, although the restaurant is not great. |So yeah, on a budget it's good, just bring earplugs and don't expect to be...
