update the pulled pork bun made me make some noises I’m not proud of. Out of this world
I’m staying here at the on-site accommodation the moment. It’s very clean and lovely. Beautiful room, good size and lots of surfaces so you’re not living out of bags on the floor which is lovely. If I could make one change I would add a bidet (bum-gun) in the toilet. The included breakfast is lovely; a little savoury pancake, with pastry of the day or fruit bowl with yogurt and honey. The staff are so kind and helpful, and there’s a real friendly atmosphere.
We ate here last night and food was delicious. The Diavola pizza is gorgeous; for me, a spice-head it’s not that spicy but it’s very well balanced. And there’s a delicious chilli oil for those who want more heat. There was a bit of a wait as it was so busy which we weren’t told about, so my friendly advice would be to tell customers how long the wait is, if there is one.
After seeing the review posted from somebody who also had to wait last night, I hope you somehow see this: we are staying at the accommodation and today all the staff, it appears, are receiving additional training and it looks like a good team working together. It’s really nice to see an establishment take (very few) negative reviews on board and immediately take action to improve things! I look forward to...
Read moreI don't know where the positive reviews are coming from. Food is really not good. Pizza Calzone had a lot of "caramelized" onions dumped inside. Barely any other ingredients. Dough was undercooked and became very soggy. The rest of the ingredients were far to be found. The chorizo used was some cheap indonesian version of salami. Also no olive oil available, just garlic oil and chili oil.
Meatballs we ordered had no taste, except a bit for the tomatoe sauce.
Pasta fettuccine seafood with some chopped up chunks of calamari, and some small squares of tomatoes, both look like to be cut with some food processor. (and I am assuming even frozen) No other seafood was present, unless it was also cut up in the same pieces. I sent back the pasta.
Even the drink we ordered, some fancy ginger with mint en lime drink etc. was overruled by the taste of the mint.
General low quality ingredients. There is at least 1 much much better alternative on the island, I won't name it here. But I cannot recommend eating here. Furthermore it's fairly/relatively expensive.
For the good part: the place has ambiance. And the girls working there are doing their job...
Read moreWe walked past the restaurant around 4 pm and had a nice chat with the Italian pizza baker (owner). It was one reason why we decided to go there later.
When we arrived, we were welcomed and a server showed us out seats and presented the carte. The Ambiente is amazing in this place. We ordered and less than 20min later the pizzas came. It's hard to find a word to describe the taste. Tasty, delicious or excellent?
Anyway, when we finished our pizza the wife of the owner came, asked if we liked it and took her time to chat about the food preparation and gave us more recommendations for the island.
I recommend to reserve beforehand and to come in early / ask to order in advance. The wife told us that July is a really busy month. Plan ahead! We ordered around 8:30 pm and they had no Bruschetta left. Everything is prepared on the same day - fresh bread and dough - and when they run out of something it's not...
