We spent 2 weeks on this beautiful island and stayed at Meno House for the entire time. Initially, we wanted to go to the Maldives but when we found this hotel, we knew we had found a much better option for our money so we decided to come here. The island is amazingly beautiful and not packed with tourists, so you truly can enjoy your time there. The sand is gorgeously white and you just need to walk into the water for the breathtaking coral reefs. Meno House is a pearl on this island that tries to keep the essence of the place and give you the real honeymoon feeling. Highly recommend it for couples who would like to spend quality time with each other as the hotel accepts just adults. We only can emphasize how good is everything there. Customer service: we got great support before our arrival regarding the traveling from Bali to Gili Meno. We came by plane to Lombok where our driver already waited for us and also sent a separate message about it. When we arrived at the harbor we just needed to sit in a boat and got a quick ride to right in front of our hotel. It was so convenient after the long journey we had. Our Bungalow: We had the ocean view bungalow which was amazing! We loved it, it exactly looks like how you can see it in the pictures. The room is extremely clean and the sheets and towels have a floral scent. They clean the room every morning and during dinner time so you can be sure you don't have sand or insects in your room. The pool: I guess there is no question around it that Meno House has the best pool on the whole island. It is really beautiful architecturally, by its view and also very clean. Lots of tourists stopped by and wanted to try it but luckily the hotel doesn't let people use it, only the guests can be around it. House reef: This was our 3rd time on the island and we tried snorkeling almost everywhere but the reefs are the most beautiful in front of Meno House. You don't need to go anywhere else as you won't see more turtles, fish, or better reefs somewhere else. In the morning there are other boats from the surrounding islands because of this reason but during the afternoon hours, the entire reef is free from tourists for the hotel's guests. You just need to walk in for approximately 1-2 minutes and already can see fish.:) Every day we spent at least 2 hours in the ocean just checking the marine world. We had our own snorkel stuff but in case you don't have one, the hotel can lend you one. Breakfast and service: whatever we needed the crew was always super helpful and took immediate action. We had super great talks with them and they were always really attentive to our needs or habits. The breakfasts were really satisfying and filling. After we only needed dinners or sometimes some fruits during the day. Oscar, the cat was absolutely our favorite member, he is a real character!:) We miss him so much!:( Dinners and cocktails: For our two weeks' stay we tried to explore different restaurants but every time we came to the conclusion that our hotel has the best food. When you wish for bigger parties, music or a bustle you can visit different places but don't expect better food quality. Maybe the Meno House's drinks and food are a bit more expensive but you never will be disappointed with the taste and...
Read moreI have left Meno house feeling like there is more to be desired for the price I paid. The below issues really bothered me during our 3 night stay. ||I didn’t even know who the manager was. The staff did really not go out of their way to help and they are clumsy. You have to repeat things multiple times and they never ask you if everything is okay or if anything is needed - not even once. ||The breakfast is not very tasty. ||We were at the sunbeds for 4 hours or so one day and not even once did anyone look our way or come over to ask us if we were wanted to order anything. They just don’t care you’re there.||The snorkelling gear is completely worn out. Most of them are broken but still are kept there. They’re not cleaned and the masks you can’t see out of them in the water because they’re too damaged.| |The room smelled humid. They are extremely bright because the curtains don’t hide any light and you start playing music at 8am. Quite difficult to rest. ||There is no water in the room and because no one is available after 9 - the first night lefts us with no water. ||No possibility to speak to reception after 9pm.||No possibility to order room service after 9pm.||My friend went to go ask the staff at 10pm last night for some drinks, they were just sitting around the bar without their T-shirts on, and she politely waited as they were talking so as to not interrupt them but they ignored her until she said something. They just said no it’s closed, but didn’t say sorry or anything. ||This morning the staff insisted I paid with cash and I said no, because we tried 2 ATMS on Gili air yesterday and all were out of cash except for one we found that only dispensed 50k notes. So we needed the cash but he kept insisting so I had to be firm. And then he’s fussing around with bills with the bar when I told him I had 3 beers and Oreo’s from the room but he’s asking me to wait for an additional invoice. All a waste of time and he didn’t even add everything up already. He was clueless like the others. ||We booked the boat with reception yesterday and they arrived 20 mins late. We didn’t say anything. When I booked the boat for today I insisted that it should arrive at 9:30 as we had a ferry booked (and we had issues at Gili T with them finding our tickets just now hence having plenty of time). And regardless, if we say and insist on a time, that should happen. But they arrived 25 mins late again today. I asked the reception to bring our bags to the beach so they are ready to be loaded onto the boat and he said “ I will, I will”. But I had to ask him 5 times to do it! That’s not okay that’s he’s arguing with me about it. The boat was there I could see it and he’s just discussing. Also from what the person was saying, they have had plenty of issues with this boat person being late and yet theyre still using them? He told me to speak with them about being late, but that’s not for me to do - this is the hotel’s responsibility. ||No manager intervened at any point! Not worth the 556 euros I paid for 3...
Read moreWe stayed at Meno House for 4 nights during our honeymoon and were really drawn in by the peaceful location, boutique feel, and beachfront setting, and in many ways, it delivered.
The design of the rooms is beautiful, modern, stylish, and perfect for a romantic island escape. The infinity pool looking out to the ocean is just dreamy, and the private beach area with sunbeds was ideal for lazy afternoons. Breakfast was consistently delicious (the coffee was especially good), and the wait staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We also appreciated the thoughtful touch of a honeymoon cake waiting for us on our first evening, which was a lovely surprise.
Some of our standout moments came from the surrounding area. Snorkelling and diving right off the beach was incredible, and the hotel provides free snorkelling gear and bikes, though riding through thick sand was a fun challenge in itself.
That said, there were a few issues that did take the shine off slightly. On our first night, we discovered marked bed linen, a towel with holes in it and a very large cockroach making itself at home in our bedroom at 11:30pm, not quite the honeymoon vibe we were going for. There were also several bugs crawling around the room, which seemed to enter easily through gaps in the bathroom door.
To be fair, the team responded quickly. Someone came to remove the cockroach, and when I messaged the manager (Jordan), he took steps to report the issues to pest control, housekeeping, and the laundry company. We were also offered a complimentary cocktail as an apology, which was appreciated.
However, we were surprised that despite being on-site later during our stay (and the hotel only having eight rooms), the manager never approached us directly to check in, apologise in person, or ask how our stay was going. A simple “how’s everything now?” would have gone a long way, especially as we were celebrating a special occasion.
Another small point to mention is that while Meno House is advertised as an adults-only resort, there were children using the restaurant, bar, and beach area during our stay. While this wasn’t a major issue, it did slightly shift the tranquil, adults-only vibe we were expecting when we chose the hotel.
It also would’ve been a nice touch if transfers to the port or Gili T were included or offered at a more competitive rate, considering the boutique nature of the stay.
Overall, we really did love our time at Meno House. It’s a stunning slice of paradise in a quiet part of Gili Meno. The setting is unbeatable, the small scale gives it a personal feel, and it’s great to support a local business rather than a large resort. With a few small improvements in hospitality and quality control, this place could be truly...
