We left this place with mixed emotions. The eggplant burrito was very tasty, as was the coffee. However, we were treated very unpleasantly.

We ordered two burritos and repeated our order two times, even repeating ‘duah’ in Indonesian. After 20 minutes, one burrito came and was served to my boyfriend. We then waited another 25 minutes and my burrito never came. I asked the staff and he had trouble looking at me or listening to me. Another 15 minutes passed and the other burrito came, but the same waiter put the plate in front of my boyfriend again, completely ignoring my existence. We moved the food over to me, and as I did not receive any cutlery, I asked the gentlemen again if I could have some. Without saying anything, he went to get it and placed it before my boyfriend again, as if he was eating again, while again completely ignoring me. After finishing, I asked for the bill, which was once again given to my boyfriend without looking at me.

I addressed this to the waiter and asked why he was ignoring me but never got an answer. Very sad that I as a woman was not respected in any way here, because if the service had been normal we would have come back.

As plenty of others reviews have mentioned, the food here is amazing, highly recommend the chicken panini and the raw zucchini pasta, so flavorful.

Also the service here really impressed me. After returning the Gili Islands I checked my bank for my expenses I realized I was charged way too much at this restaurant, approx. double of what we spent. After writing this in the review they immediatly got back to me and wanted to make it up. Now I (soon) have my money back, and the owner wrote to me that they have pointed out the mistake, probably a mix up of customers, and were very sorry it happened. They now have new routines to make sure it will never happen again. Everyone makes mistakes, but the willingness to meet the customer and making it up like this really impressed me. Highly professional.

One of the few vegan food options on the island and I wish it had been a good experience to be here but it took an hour to get a coffee. I could literally take a boat to Gili Air before they made my food. Also next to a bbq place so you are eating surrounded by smoke. If there were other options I'd want them, but you're stuck on an island here.

Becky, I appreciate your reply and I assure you that I did wait an hour this am for coffee. I did. And the smoke is really, really bad. People have a right to know what to expect. It's not kind to create an environment that is unhealthy and unpleasant. If no one says anything, nothing will change or improve. If business owners don't know how people feel, they won't change and people just won't come back. That's what reviews can be used for, with kindness, yes, but...
