Diana Cafe — Restaurant in West Nusa Tenggara

When I went to Diana Cafe yesterday for a late dinner (around 7:45 pm), my partner and I ordered papaya juice, Bintang, vegetable spring rolls, urap-urap and chicken curry. The drinks came out after about 5-10 minutes but it took almost an hour to get our food. The spring rolls were delicious but our mains were cold. Before ordering, the servers did warn us that there would be a longer wait for food because they said there were a lot of people (the beach tables were full). They tried their best to warn us but we were disappointed when the main dishes arrived cold. Many other tables didn’t have food on their tables either and seemed to be getting impatient or settles their bills before getting their food orders. Drinks and cocktails may be a safer bet at Diana’s instead of a full meal or you can look around to see if it seems like the kitchen is back-logged (customers don’t have food on their tables!) before deciding to dine in. The ambience is great at night with old school reggae music, a bonfire, and candlelit tables...

Diana has everything going for it, a prime location on northwest Gili Meno, divine views of Gili Trawangan and the beautiful seas between, and an amazingly energetic and friendly bartender-cum-cashier-cum manager. No wonder Diana is everyone's favourite on the west coast of Meno. Beautiful, colourful boats from the sister Gilis anchor here during the day, in the bay's irridescent and azure waters. This is the best snorkeling site in the Gilis. So, come lunchtime and it can be difficult to get a seat. Wait times for your order can reach 45 minutes to an hour. Just grab a beer first or coconut water and wait patiently for your turn. The prices are amazingly moderate for a location this good. And there's no surprise taxes and service charges, unlike several restaurants on this strip. The food is delicious. I especially liked the local Sasak cuisine, orap orap and ulah ulah. We sat down as a group to order some food and drinks. One in our group sent back a coffee martini as he stated it was undrinkable. One of our meals ended up by another table at which point the waiter had a disagreement with that table over the order. The rest of the food and drinks were quite delicious but when the time came to pay for the bill, they added extra beers and cocktails thinking we would not notice it. When we pointed it out, they just laughed and removed it. At this point we decided to take a better look at the bill. We then saw that they changed the cost of some drinks. We pointed this out on the menu at which he came to us with a different menu and told us that the menu we had is wrong. This ruined the experience we had as we spent quite a bit at their place.
