Nice rooms, bad (reception) service. As of pricing, this might as well be the cheapest Mercure room you can book in Asia, like dirt cheap. I had a double room all to myself, it was well-equipped, room service was daily and they kindly let me know the name of everything they had in the coffee pantry area, which was great. Now the bad side as mentioned, was the reception service. Since there’s no direct flights, we had to take transit flights from Vietnam and were exhausted to the core when we arrived at the hotel (already past midnight by the time). The receptionist took the LONGEST time in this word to check us in. Ain’t no lying here, that was definitely over half an hour. For just 2 rooms we already paid for and were under my own name - I handed him my passport right upon arrival. Unbelievable how a receptionist took that long just for check ins. My friends almost fell asleep right on the site due to exhaustion while the receptionist stood there and seemingly did nothing. And the next big trouble is that on the final day of our stay, we were informed to “handle some paperwork” at the reception. The cause was that my friend who booked this hotel on my behalf, chose the wrong month on Agoda - while our stay is in Nov, she booked Dec, and although having processed the booking for so long when we checked in, the receptionist didn’t notice this until the last day of our stay. This time there were two young receptionists handling the case, and mind you, none of them spoke decent English, which made it tough for us than ever - not only there’s a problem, the staff also couldn’t explain it clearly. After trying my best to understand what they said, I demanded a solution and they wanted my credit card. But for what? Okay, so the stay date was wrong, but don’t you charge the excess amount in this situation? Why was she demanding me to charge for THE WHOLE STAY again? Would I even get a refund for Dec if I pay extra for Nov now? I mean she insisted on charging my card without answers to any of the questions. Finally I made her guarantee that we’d only give her our card info if she promised not to pull any charges while both sides worked on resolving the issue (change my stay dates with/without an extra charge of the original amount). And she did. She PROMISED us, that the card is only stored as a safe deposit while the resolution is pending, no charge. Guess what? They charged us the FULL AMOUNT for a stay on the given card on the next day when we already checked out and has arrived in Bali, without any of our knowledge or consent. Wow, just wow. P/s for anyone who wants to hear the rest of the story: We tried all means possible to contact the hotel (phone, email) - to no avail. Finally we had to file a complaint to the bank about the card being charged illegally and the bank issued a full refund after a month because yup, that charge...
Read moreNice hotel but need some improvement on the facility, such as the shower need to be fixed (already directly asked by me when I've tried the shower, because it will just waste the water if it is not fixed soon, keep draining the water), the cleanliness need some improvement (regrigerator, the bathup, the ceramic in the bathroom), the potentiometer of air conditioner must be fixed too because it is not working anymore (I want to ask for help but it is 1 a.m., so just turn off the electricity in the room the raise the temperature)...
But overall still can be a nice place, cozy place too stay, for next improvement, maybe welcome drink can be provided (such as, infused water or tea), can increase the happiness of the customers, and can fulfill the time when check in (because when I am check in, need more than 5 minutes, the room still in the checking process, but I am given the juice as a waiting gift, still okay, but better when there are welcome drink, so no need to give that give...😀)
This hotel can be an alternative option when you want to travel around Jakarta, such as Kota Tua, Pasar Baroe, National Monument, etc, because the location very strategic, near the Trans Jakarta station, and so many transportation that you can choose, and near the train station (Kota station and Mangga Besar Station)...
This hotel has a nice view too... Because it is located in the centre of some business centre and food store centre...
Because of the location, we can enjoy the night culinary with just walking to reach the food store. And the culinary are so good, like kwetiaw, nasi campur, bakmie, and so many others. In Mangga Besar too, it is famous with the Durian...there are so many Durian seller, that give us the best taste of Durian. Beside the culinary, this is hotel near the legend bakery, named Suisse, this bakery is one of legend bakery that still bakes until now and give us special taste of bakery with not so pricy bakery...
Overall for this hotel, Good and keep...
Read moreMy cousin and I stayed for a night. It was his birthday and the hotel had prepared a special welcome for us. Our room was clean and very spacious, with a full-height bay window overlooking north, making a comfortable nook to read some books. Furniture were quite dated, but still functional. However, some aspects needed to be improved (especially the door). The overall interior of the room reminds me of luxurious hotels in the 80-90s, which is no wonder since the hotel itself is not a new property in the town. Personally, I do not mind dated furniture, as long as they are still functional and in a good condition.
We went to the swimming pool twice. The first visit in the afternoon was great and we had fun relaxing in the whirlpool. However, the pool area was quite crowded the next morning and the water in the whirlpool was too hot to our liking. There was a sauna in the changing room and the gym was located near the pool area.
The hotel has two restaurants and a bar located in the lobby level. There was a grand piano on the corner of the lobby. It was playable (I am not really sure, but they did not lock it so I could access the keys), but they put the stool somewhere so I could not sit, much to my chagrin (sounds a little too much, but really, where I was supposed to sit?). While enjoying some evening drinks in the bar, there was a lunatic lady (she wasn't a hotel guest) making a mess. However, bartender and staffs did a great job in handling the situation. Also, a special shoutout to Mr. Edwin, Ms. Uli, and Ms. Nova from the reception, and Mr. Ali for making our visit memorable and pleasant. Would love to...
