Read moreThe bakso is incredible in this place. This was my first time eating bakso and their food definitely set a pretty high bar. The shop was extremely busy and filled with locals when I visited. They don't really have a clear menu and you have to order on the spot by telling them what you want based on the pictures. There are also no clear prices shown (it turned out to be quite expensive).
The meatballs are flavorful and the texture is amazing, every bite of it is delightful. The noodles have a mild taste and nice texture, it pairs well with the meatballs. The highlight for me was their sambal! A local taught me to mix the chili sauce, soy sauce and asam (a clear sauce) together for the best chili sauce to pair with the dish - and it was amazing! Definitely do experiment around with the sauces on the table, it can elevate the dish into a whole new level.
There didn't show the price for any of their food, and as expected it's pretty expensive, though I still think their food do "kinda" live up to its price tag. I paid 80k for noodles and bakso, and 20k for an iced tea (which I later heard it should only...
Read moreThe best place to eat bakso Medan. This place serves really good beef slices. It's savory and sweet. Contrary to the name, if you order mixed beef, you'd probably only get two meatballs, lots of beef slices and tripe. Or course you can order just the meatball, beef slices or just the tripe. The soup or the broth is savory. Your bowl of meat comes with choices of noodle (I have never tried it), vermicelli (very good), or rice. You have to pay extra though if you order rice. The fried shallots, chopped green onions and cilantro are separated from the bowl for the people who doesn't like all those. The downside is the long queue and the hot temperature inside the place. Finding a parking space can be tricky. I'd suggest parking in front of Lawson's. And it would be better to go here not on a Friday or Saturday night because the area can be really crowded...
