AVOID AT ALL COST. Rooms and resort are not like photos or as advertised. Hotel is deserted and badly needs maintenance work. Pool bar closed. There is not a non-smoking section. Reception lady rude and lies. We asked for non-smoking rooms next to each other but they said there weren't any. They claim all rooms have a garden view and balcony yet they stuck us in the corner where rooms face each other and no balcony. I couldnt even lock my room door as the sliding doors didnt align. We complained so they moved us to... rooms next to each other with a balcony! So we turned airconditioning on and unpacked. 1 hour later room is still hot, full of mosquitoes that I think came out of the aircon, we noticed the beds were rock hard and again had issues with a door that wouldnt close properly to the bathroom. Back to reception and they then prepared another room which they turned airconditioning on for half an hour before we went to view. We went in and immediately reacted to the bug spray they had used, my friend had a full on asthma attack and my throat burned. I layed down on the bed and it was just as hard. Back to reception and asked for a refund. They wanted to show me another room but the whole reason we chose this hotel was the pool bar which was shut. They said beds were hard because they are all new (which I doubt) so changing rooms wasnt going to solve the rock hard bed issue. It also doesnt have a nonsmoking section - there were ashtrays on all balconies. Rang expedia who told us to leave and check in somewhere else. Went to Magani where the pool bar is open, beds are not rock hard and aircon works. Baleka then refused to refund expedia!!! Clearly they are in financial strife from lack of business. I have been to Bali over 10 times and realise there is a difference in standard but I would not stay there if you paid me to. Better resorts for...

A last minute trip to the island meant we needed to broaden our search for available accommodation, and this is when we found our new home away from home.
Location was the biggest non negotiable for us and the Baleka ticked that box and then some. Conveniently located with our favourite haunts (shops, coffee shops, restaurants and massage parlours) dotted around within walking distance of the hotel- it was surely a winner.
The hotel itself is very well priced and has some great facilities.
The pools were always sparkling clean, and during the day you would always see gardeners working on maintaining the grounds and other staff completing other cleaning.
The pool closest the Fat Buddha was great for the extra shade and wasn't as busy as the main pool during the peak times of the day.
I would like to see more pool chairs/lounges - unless you got in early for a swim- it was a bit hard to secure a spot since there weren't many chairs available.
Our room was spacious and clean with a nice view of the garden tree tops from the balcony.
We weren't affected by any noise from the Fat Buddha entertainment of a night time (something we had read about in a bunch of other reviews) and quite enjoyed listening to the evening entertainment from the pool.
My missing piece- and my suggestion for an improvement would be the inclusion of an outdoor clothes horse/clothes line. The line in the bathroom was useful- but for wet bathers it would be nice to have somewhere to hang these outside so they could dry more quickly.
Overall, we we really enjoyed our stay here- we felt safe, the staff were friendly and helpful, and you cannot beat the overall value for money- we've already booked...
Read moreWe arrived at the Baleka resort and Spa 20th May 2022. We had the most amazing experience there. The staff are so very warm and friendly and were more than happy to help in any way they were able to. There are two lovely pools to enjoy, the rooms were large, clean and comfortable. I had the good fortune to spend my birthday there and was pleasantly surprised with a bunch of flowers and some vouchers ( and my little donut cake, thanks Scott) for my special day courtesy of the management and staff there.
Scott, the owner of the Baleka made our stay there so much more enjoyable. Great bloke that was happy to help if his staff were unable to. Was there most mornings and is always up for a chat and a bit of a laugh. Make yourself known to Scott as he is interested in any feedback and will assist in any way possible.
Fat Buddha restaurant has a great selection on the menu and are constantly adding new items so there is definitely something for everyone! Breakfast is great and again something for everyone.
There is plenty of entertainment with great bands most nights, drag queen bingo and chook lotto (you've got to see this to believe it!!) great stuff. The locale is ideal with a 5 minute walk to the beach and you are steps away from various restaurants, bars, money changers and shopping and a little laundry right next door that will do your laundry for 20k ($2.00 AUD) per kilo.
We are looking forward to our return to the Baleka resort and Spa in June 23 and have no intentions of staying anywhere else. This is our Bali home. Thank you Baleka for all...
