Was absolutely disappointed….. mind you we have been coming to chapter 2, at least a few times every time we come. When ordering, the hostess totally disregarded my son when he was explaining what he wanted to order. She then asked someone else to repeat his order to her. The hostess was told multiple times that my son wants everything on the plate separated. She even nodded me in sarcasm to confirm she received the order correctly. We all received our meals and my son was the last one to get his lamb shank, mashed potato and steamed veggies and mushroom gravy. He received the meal, ordinarily like anyone else would have with everything places on the one plate, however, they had poured the mushroom gravy all over the lamb shank. After pulling the waitress aside and questioning why the gravy was poured over my son’s meal, instead of apologising for the misunderstanding, she lied and told me that this is how the lamb shank is prepared. I told her “no”, we had asked for everything to be separated, everything. She rolled her eyes at me and asked if there was anything to get him to eat, I said just a plain steak, and he will eat the veggies and mash. Thinking that she would own up to her mistake and replace the shank with just a steak on a plate, no, to my amazement when I received the bill we were charged for the 2x full meals. I asked to speak to the manager To explained what happened and was told there is no manager here and that I would have to sort it out with the cashier. I told the girl to not lie to me. I have been here plenty of times to know who the manager is let alone who OWNS the restaurant, this was not the first time I have ordered the meal and each time I had asked for the same thing and I received what I ordered. The refused to give me nothing but a $5 discount on the $25 steak meal or the could wrap up the chips and salad for me to take home. All because whilst my son was the last to receive his meal, he then had to wait for them to cook, just a steak, so what were we expected to do, make my son sit there and watch us all eat. So we asked one of the other children (4yrold) if our son could have some of her chips and she could eat some of his veggies. All because part of the meal was eaten they refused to do a better customer service deed and offer an apology and a discount on the meal THEY stuffed up. The manager was unwilling to come to an agreement and become arrogant to the point where I felt threatened. I got up and told the manager that this was not right, and that this would never happen in Australia. He then yelled at me and said “Well love your not in Australia, your in Bali!!” And I then got so worked up and yelled at him “ YEAH BUT THE OWNER OF THIS RESTAURANT IS FROM AUSTRALIA!!” I was mortified and stood there crying at the counter whilst my husband spoke to the owner. Never have I ever been treated like this or spoken to in such a manner. This could have all been avoided with a simple I’m sorry and I will give you a discount on your meal. Not charge me full price for a meal that was not ordered to the way we wanted and then charged $25.00 for a steak on a plate and cop abuse and yelled at. Never we will we ever set foot in this restaurant when all I do is recommend them to all my friends and family that come to Bali. So...
Read morePlease do not go to this amazing restaurant thinking that you are going to get Michelin star cuisine - and then criticise them when you get pub food at pub prices! Cocktails, 8am-8pm AU$5!! See the photos for the range! They are so good! The reviews here are sometimes laughable when you read that they are full of totally unrealistic expectations! Please do not make a fool of yourself by posting your disappointment at your AU$5 breakfast dish or AU$15 dinner! Go to the Hilton and pay AU$100 per main if that is the quality that you are after! This is a FUN PUB style restaurant. With a huge menu so lots to choose from! The local BALI dishes are a little toned down to suit the western palate. That was disappointing because we have been coming to Bali for almost 50 years and love our local cuisine. So really good satay and other local food is rapidly disappearing. That is sad. Having said that, the breakfast choices are really good value - corn frittas, banana pancakes and so much more! Around AU $5 or 6 dollars. Dinner: so many choices! Ribs melt in your mouth. Beef rendang needs a bit of ooomph, but suits a western palate. The service is amazing. Marlin is especially enthusiastic and is so much fun. She is fun, and takes care of guests by going the extra mile. This is a new favourite after Sugar Rays took a dive in recent times. Oh, the 60cm pizza? Our friends could not get close to the finish line on that but they said it was one of the best pizzas ever! Restaurants in Bali are always diverse, please think before you criticise! Love you,...
Read moreWe took a group of 6 to Chapter 2 after having nice meals and great cocktails here a couple of weeks ago. The drinks were still good but that was all. After an hour our garlic bread arrived. We asked about our mains when it was an hour and a half since we had ordered. My meal came first, Beef Rendang. I've eaten Beef Rendang in Bali, Malaysia and Australia, but I couldnt eat this. It didn't taste like Rendang and it was far too hot. I called the waitress over and told her. SHE JUST WALKED OFF. After a few minutes of no response I picked up the plate and took it to the kitchen. They listened then, and told me this was how they make it. Would I prefer a replacement meal? I agreed that would be a good option. Just then my friends meals arrived, they had ordered Ravioli in burnt butter sauce. Instead of burnt butter sauce, the sauce was a thick white sauce, made from cornflour. I tasted it, it was pretty awful. Not even the parmesan cheese (we had to pay extra for) improved the meal. We told the manager but she didn't care. We had planned to stay for more cocktails and have donuts for dessert, but our meals were such a disappointment that we decided to go elsewhere. There are so many great restaurants in Legian. Chapter 2 is no longer one of them. Karaoke with dinner is not my idea of dinner...
