Just back from a 14 night stay at Bali Garden Beach Resort. The hotel is a short 15/20 minute taxi ride from the airport so after a long flight from the UK, it was lovely to clear customs then a short ride to the resort.| On arrival, we were met by friendly welcoming staff, a theme which continued throughout our stay. We were quickly checked in and shown to our room (206) on the same level as the beautiful reception area.| The room was quite big, a massive plus was the storage areas. A wardrobe, plenty of shelving, plus two large drawers, plus two bedside cabinets, aircon, a large safe, hairdryer, various body wash lotions in the bathroom, tea/coffee, and a lovely big fridge for storing drinks etc. The bed was a king size and very comfortable for someone who suffers lower back pain. A balcony overlooking a small garden area, lovely for a drink on an evening.| Exploring the hotel, the gardens are beautiful with an abundance of tropical trees, ponds, lawns and various tropical flowers, all well maintained by an attentive staff. The walkways lead down to a small adult only shaded pool area and then on to the main pool which has a swim up bar, shallow area for kids and a large deeper pool for a good swim. There is also a smaller pool overlooking the beach, so plenty of choice and beds for everyone.| The hotel has several bars/eating areas and also, at the front of the hotel, there are two bars/restaurants belonging to the hotel. Excellent and very reasonable choice on the menus ranging from snacks, to local dishes and dishes everyone is familiar with……Bangers and mash if you want them!!| Breakfast is served in two areas, we used the buffet area but were told we could also use the a la crate restaurant upstairs if we wanted. Plenty of choice for everyone, an egg bar with amazing staff, local cuisine as well as the traditional breakfast choice available, sausages, beans, choice of potatoes, breads, croissants, fresh fruit, cereals, juice, tea and coffee etc etc.| For walkers, you can either use the main road or the “boardwalk “ which follows the beach, left towards the airport, or right towards Seminyak. Here you will pass vendors with the usual tourist items for sale. They always ask you to look but never hassle you as in other resorts. A polite “no thanks” always worked for us. Loads of tiny bars on the beach for drinks etc if you want them. Just one word of caution for the unwary, you might get approached on your walk by timeshare touts, the usual “ oh you’ve won a prize “ brigade. Again, a polite “no thanks” normally sees them on their way.| Ok, I’ve saved my last part of the review to the thing we will remember most about our stay……the staff. They are absolutely fantastic and a credit to the hotel. From reception, to room cleaners, to the bar staff, they are without doubt the best at their jobs. Always approachable, smiling and working hard to please everyone. I can’t praise these wonderful people enough for putting the icing on a very nice stay. It was my partners birthday while we there, a few cards from friends and family were opened and left on her bedside table by her, on returning to the bedroom we discovered a plate, decorated with a rose and message from the hotel, and a lovely chocolate cake. A lovely thought and well appreciated.| Our first trip to Bali, we couldn’t have picked a better hotel. Thank you all for a fantastic holiday. ...
Read moreI am originally from Indonesia but i live in Colorado now with my family. We came to Bali to enjoy our vacation. And i need to do some work and report from here even when i’m on vacation. So if you are on the same boat like me, my review with worth your time. 1. Internet is not working AT ALL.They move us 3 times in just 2 days to get better internet signal, still not working. We have to check out the hotel 1 day earlier than our reservation, I have to work and to open a website, it’s impossible! 2. The 2 days we were day, the lift is not working. They have to move our luggage from main floor to lower lever to 3rd floor, by stairs! I have to carry my 6 years old daughter that already sleep, to move to another room at 11pm, by stairs. Don’t waste your time and money on this hotel. Or should i say, if you are here, lower your expectations.3. Front desk only until 11pm. The rest of the night, security is in charge. So if you need anything past 11pm, good luck with that! 4. Building is out dated. Air condition is not work properly.5. Very small TV. I mean, this TV size is the smallest from all of the hotel we’ve ever been. Another costumer next door also came out that night when i was talking to the hotel staff regarding the internet. He is from Germany and have to work using the internet. They also leave in the morning when we check out from the hotel. The staff on the breakfast area is not too friendly with people that have “local face” they are super friendly with people that looks “bule” or tourist. I mean, i am a tourist too now. I’m a US citizen, but I’m originally from Indonesia, so yeah, i looks like local people. They don’t even greet me. They ask the proof of the breakfast ticket from me! The tourist, they greet them by their name. How in the world is this hotel got 4 star? I don’t understand. It should be a 2 star hotel, and that’s me being generous. Stay here and enjoy our vacation? That’s not an option! we move to another hotel. Forget this one. Sorry,...
Read moreFind somewhere else to stay- rooms atmosphee and location all subpar. I had to change room as first one had mould inc in air con unit, then the rooms offered reeked of cigarette fumes from pillows to walls to air con - people obviously sit inside with doors shut and air con on chain smoking in bed. Facilities are nice, and staff as everywhere in Bali are friendly, but this is offset by poor room quality and chain smoking, heavy drinking, obese, tattooed parents screeching aggressively at their children and the staff in the pool areas and hoovering up the food at the breakfast buffet. Location is terrible. I'd been warned kuta was awful but figured I could stay inside my room when too hot and just enjoy a resort holiday. The room was so bad I was nauseous and ill at night in there and my hair and clothes stunk of cigarettes as did all my luggage afterwards. There's not much nearby except a waterpark and some depresing bars and a half built construction zone shopping centre directly next door. it's a long walk to any shopping centres markets or places and kuta itself offers only traffic fumes and a whole beach blocked by a wall from street. Try futher along canngu or go to nusa dua for something nicer for same or less price. I noticed only those who'd never been anywhere else in bali thought it was ok, whilst those who have stayed elsewhere in Bali gave very poor reviews- take their advice and book elsewhere unless you are a heavy drinking smoking tattooed Aussie who won't notice the above...
