This was the most horrible hotel experience we ever had. Me and my family of five arrived to the hotel on December 31st and checked in after a beautiful day early celebrating New Year to find an infestation of ants in our children's room with hundreds of ants coming out of a hole in the wall and several insects inside the beds and crib. At 11:00pm on New Years Eve we had to discuss for 1 hour to be changed to another dark room as it was impossible to get a taxi or another hotel. The next day we obviously left the property and contacted the manager to request a refund and forget the horrible night to continue our vacation. The manager had the audacity to blame on us the issue saying we left opened windows and food in the room, when we were not even in the room given (that had NO windows) until 9:00pm at night. Our children were biten by the bugs, our New Year Eve was ruined and the following days we spend time getting Booking.com to get a refund of our money as the manager never respond to our requests. The hotel never took responsibility and denied a compensation for a serious sanitary issue that showed a luck of hygiene and safety. We spend 2 months in Bali, stayed in 8 different accommodations and never experienced something as disgusting as this hotel....
Read moreI would give this place a five star. Amazing location. Right downtown but hidden from the commotion. Very warm staff. And the place itself is lovely. I got a room with it's own verandah and just didnt feel like leaving. They have running water features and a spa that I didn't try. I didnt try the pool either. I didn't try the food but in ubud you're really spoilt for food.
But the wifi. I just did not get wifi in the room. The staff checked my complaint and agreed that it wasn't working. but even on the third day I am lucky if I get one bar in the room. If wifi makes no difference to your life, the place is amazing. But I am not sure why they couldn't place an extra router in their best rooms. I was in Bali to experience some digital nomadism. Instead I got super stressed trying to look for wifi cafes across town because my room didn't have this basic service.
And I wasn't an overnight guest. It's my third night and the situation has not changed although I identified this issue within minutes of checking in. I would check out right away if it was refundable or if i could deal with the additional hassle of moving. And if my complaint had resulted in a solution I would even...
Read moreLiz and I spent a fabulous two weeks at Murni's Houses in Ubud in September 2025. I believe that this may have been our tenth visit, maybe more. Our fabulous hosts, Murni and Jonathan have been away for some time, and we missed them on our last trip. However, their hospitality shows no bounds, and this trip we were able to have a lingering lunch with Jonathan at the iconic Tandjung Sari Hotel in Sanur before he jetted off again to the UK. We had a wonderful lunch with Murni sometime later at a marvelous Swiss restaurant in Ubud in Jl Raya Campuhan (past Murni's famous warung). When was the last time your hotel owner had a long enjoyable lunch with you, and made you feel part of the family? Speaking of family, we loved seeing one of Murni's grown up sons Kadek again, and his beautiful family. They live close by, and we have known them for many years. Why Murni's Houses? Where else can you be pampered in central Ubud, feel part of a Balinese family, and reunite with staff that have become close friends. And there is the award winning Tamarind Spa onsite. It just doesn't get any better in Ubud. We are coming back in December 2025. I know, it's too much. Anyway,...
