This is a beautiful and picturesque temple in the heart of Ubud well known for its amazing Lotus ponds. Unfortunately, the Lotus ponds are currently under construction (as of August 2023), so they are not as beautiful as seen in other photos. They currently have one side completely drained, and the lotus plants on the opposite side are not in top condition. Still, the temple is worth a visit as it is fairly unique, and is a very popular place for photos, as you must wear Balinese dress (a wrap, kimono, and for men a headdress) to enter. Many people love getting photos while they are “in local costume. The location on Google maps is a bit confusing. Just look for the entrance to the temple and the ticket booth adjacent to the Starbucks. The entrance fee is about $7 US, which includes loaning of your required attire. Plan to spend about an hour here to get your photos, as often you will have to wait 15 to 30 minutes or more in line.

Disappointing After seeing this online, I was very keen to visit. However, after I was left disappointed. It appears they have made some renovations/changes this year and not for the most positive. The stepping stones have been added to the lily pad ponds but I’m not sure if that’s to the detriment of the lily pads…. Didn’t look as healthy as previous photos. The main area of the temple is no longer public accessible so you’re really just seeing the front garden. Which you could just look at from the road without paying the entrance fee. The traditional Balinese dress is required to be worn, but is just passed onto the next person and on a hot day is very sweaty and grubby. Also just comes in one size. So if you are a bit taller or wider it doesn’t fit correctly and just probs make a bit of a mockery of it all rather than being culturally sensitive

The ever beautiful Saraswati temple as known as the Ubud Water Palace, lies very close (walking distance) from Ubud Palace. Included in the fees is the sarong which is compulsory for all the visitors and is worn with the help of the local assistants. The temple boats if a central walkway in between the water with lotuses blooming on both sides. Moving straight ahead are two thrones where pictures can be taken. Also, on the left and the right sides, there are multiple statues. The prominent ones are Lord Rama, Lord Lakshmana, Devi Sita, and the Asura from Ramayan - Rahwana. Overall, one of the must visit temples close to the Ubud Market, which makes this highly accessible and convenient to visit during the day. One can also have coconut water at the entrance...
