Putu Homestay — Hotel in Pulau Bali

The place it’s self was nice but they tried everything the could to even get 10k or 20k extra out of us. We arrived and they put us in the small side Homestay (not shown in images) after they showed us the one with the pool DOWN the road (the one shown in photos). We asked to pay 180k they said no cannot do 200k, the next day we checked online and the price was 180k. My friend not knowing this asked the lady that next day for the price 180k again they persistently said no. When I arrived I showed booking.com price was 179k they said ok. The next morning we asked for late checkout at 4pm and said we would pay 50k as my friend has a meeting and we needed the room.. they agreed. When we asked to book the same room the following week they said no to the price we just paid and said 200k again. After debating the price the boss messages saying no late check out, check out 12pm... we are like what? We already agreed, she just replied with basic ‘sorry cannot do’ ‘over booking of rooms’, someone else has the room. I tried to explain that we had the room first and agreed and that we have an important meeting at 2. She just kept saying sorry cannot do. Clearly due to us being annoyed about the price situation. It was just a constant back and forth over nothing.

The son and daughter that work here are nice but if you want to be treated like you are doing them a favor not the other way around and that you are not actually guests here just a source of money then don’t stay here. We initially booked a different accommodation which was awful so decided to last minute change to something nicer. Walked in to this place and decided to stay. The room was very nice, bright and clean. Lovely furniture. The bathroom was updated, provided shampoo and soap. The swimming pool was inviting and clean. Room service for drinks is offered through WhatsApp and they even make up the rooms. In the centre of the shopping strip and close to the beach.

The reception staff definitely lacked English and French as a bit confused when we tried to book the same night plus the following night. The WhatsApp room service was a bit slow. Pillows were uncomfortable.

Overall, this place impressed me and I’d stay again. This place was better than a 3 star hotel we stayed in...
