A Delightful Mexican Gem in an Unexpected Location
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mexican restaurant that truly took me by surprise. Although I'm often hesitant to try Mexican food outside of North America, this establishment proved to be a delightful exception.
From the moment we entered, the friendly and warm staff made us feel right at home, even though it was our first visit. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience.
The amuse-bouche was a fantastic surprise, whetting our appetite for the culinary journey ahead. We were particularly impressed by the unique and creative Paloma cocktail, which added a refreshing touch to the meal.
The authenticity of the Mexican cuisine was evident in every dish, and the staff's knowledge of the menu and their personal favorite dishes was a testament to their passion for the food. The softshell crab tamale stood out as a highlight, blending Mexican and Asian flavors seamlessly to create a memorable fusion dish.
An added bonus was the option to enjoy drinks before or after the meal in the upstairs area. This flexibility made for a complete evening experience and allowed us to savor the atmosphere a little longer.
In conclusion, I highly recommend making a reservation at this delightful Mexican restaurant for an authentic and memorable dining experience. The combination of exceptional food, warm hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit destination. Cannot wait to go back and party with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arranged a 30 person function at Maize having heard good things from people who work in the industry in Bali. We were looking for a restaurant with a fun atmosphere, well priced and well located (and wanted to get away from the beach warungs or overpriced under "qualitied" beach restaurants). Maize was absolutely superb. The staff knew their stuff (not easy in Bali) and the kitchen prepared a feast that was superb and unexpected (I said "we had to travel to Bali to have the best south american meal I have had" NB i had just been to South America last December...Get the corn dish (cant remember the name - its a standout). Every dish was unique and diffrent to what you would expect. It is presented as a great restaurant for those "in the know" ie like expats living there and return tourists who seek quality. I met the chef who used to run "You Look Good in Bikinis" - one of Bali's best ever 5 star restaurants - this became aparent when the desert was elevated by being served with a nitrogen finish that made for a spectacle at the end of a great night. We ate too much great food and a few too many great margaritas and will be back soon. Thanks team (and thanks for taking our 30 wedding guests). ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo Iām definitely conflicted about this place. As a lover of Mexican food I was excited to try this place. This place isnāt true Latin food kinda more like experimental Latin food. The atmosphere was great, the food (what was available) was amazing especially the pork belly and fish. However they didnāt have half the menu, no beef, no lamb, no ribs, no steak. Only meat available was pork belly and the chipotle chicken. The issue was that this wasnāt made clear from the beginning when we sat down they told us they us they didnāt have āthe wagyu and the lamb shoulderā so when we started ordering they kept saying more things were out of stock, which made it difficult as half the table didnāt eat pork and theirs only so much chipotle chicken on could eat. At which point everyone was hungry and weād already ordered cocktails so we decided to stay and work around that. Could have given more salsa, the guacamole was bland needed some salt and lime or Tijin the cocktails was kinda tastless. This place had potential to be amazing but needs to work on...
