It's a nice funky place to eat, it was recommended by friends so we decided to book a table for an evening meal. While the food was served fast and looked delicious we were treated poorly and could not enjoy a conversation or a meal. Staff was under a clear pressure from management to keep rushing customers, 40 min after out platters were served we were offered a glass of wine and soon after we were asked whether we would like our food wrapped to go. We ordered a big sharing plate, wine and a main course thus we were in the middle of eating when the waiter came back for the second time asking again if we would like to have food wrapped to go This was followed by offering to move us to another table while other tables around us were free.then we were offered a dessert menu, when we ordered desserts - they arrived with the bill. Then coffee was served and at the same time staff arrived with card machine asking us if we were paying separately or together. Place was clearly overbooked and whoever was in charge of floor service kept sending staff to the tables to rush customers. It was by far the most disruptive meal I have ever had. Food was delicious and price was fair. However customer service was very poor. We were never told while booking over the phone that the place was this busy and that booking is strictly for 90 minutes even when eating 3 courses and planning to order drinks during and after the meal. I have never been asked by anybody to have a main course wrapped while eating it, moved during the meal, offered a dessert afterwards and ordered to pay before starting to eat it.

If you like speed eating, drinking and having conversation disturbed don't hesitate to visit Shouk. We hope you won't be send home with take away boxes during your 3...

Shouk has always been a favourite of mine. The food is excellent the interior and atmosphere in the place is really nice and different. But I left shouk within 30 minutes of sitting down yesterday extremely disappointed. The service was pretty terrible. Our main course was placed on our table before our dishes from our starters were even cleared. The food is very filling and it felt like we were being rushed, a few minutes in between the courses would be ideal. At the very least take the time to clear our dirty dishes and cutlery before serving us our main course. This can be forgiven. However the biggest issue we had is when we had finished our mains (half eaten because the portions are massive) we had asked could we box our food up to take home. The lady serving us said ‘yes no problem we have boxes’ and puroceeded to plonk two cardboard boxes on our table. The lady expected us to scrape our plates like they were going into the food bin into these boxes, in front of other paying customers on either side of us. Not only was this humiliating for me and my father but surely quite off putting to the other customers right next door who were only ordering there food and watching left overs being transported from plate to box. Maybe next time take the plates for loyal customers and do us the courtesy of boxing up our food in the confines of your kitchen. Extremely disappointing, will not be...

Ate here on Wednesday night and can honestly say it was one of the best meals of my life. We each had a mezze plate or platter and every single bite on it was perfect and delicious, even foods I'm not usually mad about like aubergine. I think there were four dishes on the plate - really wonderfully garlicy hummus, a finely chopped tomato and (I think) cucumber that tasted of herbs and was gorgeous, that aubergine dip that was smoky and soft and just heavenly and ... and I forget the fourth, but I loved it because there wasn't a scrap left. It came with warm freshly made pita and flattish falafel that were green on the inside, and beside the falafel were two little dips. Because of an injury to my back, I can't sit on chairs without backs or support and they were so lovely and kind, and I got a seat with my back to the wall and with cushions to support me. I hope this place gets bigger and bigger --- because I expect it to be full all the time.

(My photos below are of a mezze platter for two that I shared when I visited again three or four days later, with a different friend. We had a salad too, which had roasted cauliflower and roasted broccoli in it and it too was delicious, as were the pickled vegetables that we got ourselves from a bowl over by...

Myself and my girlfriend had heard about this place from family so we thought we’d try ourselves. Drumcondra is already wonderful town for a broad range of restaurants so we hoped Shouk would be a good addition to this list. Well it did not disappoint! We went for lunch and although there was outside seating we opted for indoors. We took a small table which has one long seat (and lots of cushions!) along the wall. It was lunchtime so we ordered the mezze platter for 2. We weren’t waiting long when the lovely large glass plate arrived with one bowl of small pita breads and a lovely selection of vegetarian dishes. The shredded carrots had a hint of orange, the cucumber and tomato salad tasted like it was in a lemon juice dressing. The hummus was creamy and perfect fro dipping. My favorite was the roasted aubergine (eggplant) dish which for someone that doesn’t like aubergine I was very impressed. The baba ganoush dip was lovely as a topping once you packed your pitta bread with a little of everything. We finished the lot and will definitely be back to try the chicken shwarma! Highly recommend.

A Fantastic Middle Eastern Experience at Shouk, Drumcondra If you’re looking for a vibrant, flavour-packed culinary experience in Dublin, Shouk in Drumcondra is a must-visit. This outdoor food hall offers a warm, relaxed ambiance that perfectly complements its delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. We ordered the Large Mezze Platter, which was a feast in itself — with crispy falafels, soft pitas, creamy hummus, fresh salads, smoky babaganoush, and a bold hit of Zhug. While I personally didn’t enjoy the tahini (just a matter of personal taste), my friends absolutely loved it. For dessert, the Knafeh was the real standout — rich, sweet, and beautifully presented. Drinks-wise, they have a small but decent selection of cocktails and pints; nothing extraordinary, but they complement the food nicely. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was laid-back yet lively — perfect for a casual evening out. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more dishes. If you’re a fan of Middle Eastern flavours, Shouk is definitely worth a visit.
