The room was spacious, stylishly decorated with lovely details... it has a trulli type ceiling... and it was spotlessly clean, it's in a quiet and graceful building with very easy access but it was only a two minutes walk to the trulli tourist madness. I was thinking of staying in a trullo but thought better of it after reading how one would have tourists traipsing past your door and gawping in for most of the time. Because It's a maze of pedestrianised narrow lanes getting suitcases etc would also have been a nightmare. ||I resorted to walking the trulli area at 7.00am in the morning just to see it in it's pristine state when the tourist shops were closed and the streets free of people.. I'm very glad i didn't stay in a trullo.||Best of all was the incredible helpfulness of Marilda, the charming daughter of the owner who kept in constant email contact helping me with information on how to get there from Matera. Because transport on a Sunday is a bit tricky she even offered to drive me herself at 7.00am to Maria Franca to get the bus to Lecce, and she bought my bus ticket for me. We had the triple room with a kitchen and nice bathroom. The room overlooks the street which had a market set up one day which was a bonus (I believe Thursdays). ||Wifi was great, beds were comfortable, Marilda was amazing. She went above and beyond- carrying luggage, finding our next property for us (I mean this gal looked after us so well). ||The breakfast was a short walk with terrific coffee and your choice of croissant/donut/pastry. I liked this as that is what i like in the morning while in Italy. ||The property is not right in the Trulli's, but you just walk down the road to the left and you are overlooking the whole village.
