Savronola — Hotel in Florence

We picked Savonarola based on reviews, cost and location.||Our room (57) was a triple room with small en-suite shower/bathroom.||Room is very spacious with TV and AC - very comfortable.||We included breakfast and it is good value at €5 with fresh coffee (unlimited), tea, cereals, bread, ham & cheese plus jams and honey.||The location was fine for us (a late 50's active couple) with 10 minutes leisurely walk to San Marco and Piazza Duomo area and further 10 minutes to Uffizzi / Ponte Vecchio.||The hotel's area is quiet and we always enjoyed a good night sleep.||The staff/owners are excellent - we had most interaction with Leonardo & Mariana and they were great with advice and recommendations.||Finally at night we enjoyed a glass of house wine at the hotel bar with always great music taste (jazz, blues,...

So disappointed with this accommodation as it appears to have good reviews. Hotel is based on the 2nd floor of an apartment block, so no seperate entrance. The room we had was terrible, sparsely furnished, so depressing, with a window opening out onto an enclosed lightwell that stank of drains. No real hospitality to speak of, although the owner did allow us to store bags on the last day as we checked out No other interaction with the host, run very much like an Airbnb with contact through WhatsApp. I try not to give negative reviews, but cannot recommend this accommodation. We could not wait to leave.

EDIT - in reply to the owner's response - you refer to your hotel as "simple and cheap". I would agree that it was simple but a charge of over 100GBP per night for room only accommodation makes it...

Excellent hotel with all facilities.||The price was really good and I really didn’t aspected to receive so much good services.The staf is ready to help you for almost everything. The hotel is well located, just 5 minutes to David, 15 minutes to duomo. There are so many bars and restaurants and supermarkets nearby.||The hotel isn’t located in ZTL zone so you can reach the hotel easily and there is a parking just 2 minutes walk from the hotel that costs 15€ for 24h. ||The hotel has a really cute bar that you can eat or drink there 24h , that I find it amazing!
