1-2 July, 2018.
I am literally sitting in my room in this hotel writing this review right now at 0200 am after the front desk was unable to do anything to solve the NUMEROUS problems with our room.
Where to begin...
Our room is full of buzzing and biting mosquitos. I have already killed 4 and can still hear them buzzing around. They have been biting my wife and I both while we (tried to) sleep. There are loud banging noises and plumbing noises coming from the walls and ceiling as I type this sentence. When I contacted the front desk, the man at the front desk told me this “is not possible” because our room (134) is below ground and there are no rooms above us. I asked him if he thought I was lying and he would not answer me. I asked him to accompany me to the room to hear the noises for himself, at 0100 am. He did come with me to the room but did not hear any noises in the brief 30 seconds that he was there and said “See, there are no noises,” as if I was lying about the whole thing for some odd reason.
I told him the noises are real and they’re very loud, why else would I bother him at 0100 am. He said if they come back to let him know and he will find us another room.
At this time, I asked him to fix the thermostat in our room as it is stuck on a higher temperature and we cannot get the air conditioning to work. He also failed to adjust the temperature himself using the wall thermostat and said he could do it from his computer at the front desk. Then he left.
The banging and plumbing noises started again almost immediately after he left, but my wife and I tried to deal with it for as long as possible. The loud noises continued for almost an hour before I walked back to the front desk at now 0200 am (there is no contact information for the front desk anywhere in the room or on the room’s phone), to ask for a room change.
The same employee told me the hotel is full and there are no more rooms available. I reminded him that he had already offered to change our room if we continued to have problems with our current one less than one hour before. All he said was, “Sorry” and that the best he can do is to “leave a note” for his colleague who work in the morning about the situation.
I again asked him about the thermostat and temperature in our room. He told me he already fixed it from his computer and set it to 21 C. I informed him it still read 23.5 C and the room is still very hot. He then said he can set it to the lowest setting 18 C and “hopefully that will fix it”. I am still sweating in the room as I type this, the temperature has not gone down at all.
I will be asking to speak with the hotel Manager and will demand a refund for this unacceptable and...

Check-in went okay; there was an issue with some payments not going through (e.g. room tax not being paid) but that was soon sorted - it puzzled me why they waited for me to turn up rather than getting it resolved during the booking.
My room was to the side of the reception, a wedge-shaped room down a bent corridor off reception, as though it were designed around other construction. The bed and bathroom were in the wide part of the wedge, a wardrobe and shelf for the middle part and the thin part tapered to a ... small window at the end. I've no idea what that was used for, other than storage space away from the bed.
The bed was good and firm, giving me a good night's sleep but I still encountered a lot of traveller noise echoing down the narrow corridor from guests using the elevator, so light sleepers may want to find a room further away from communal areas. I liked the fact there were bedside power points - what I couldn't understand was the variety of unlabelled switches, some of which weren't switches but actually blanking plates so expect to prod each to (a) determine if it's actually a switch, and (b) to find out what it operates.
The bathroom functioned well; had an issue with the towel rail in which it refused to get warm no matter what the knob setting was but just put it down to the heating not being on - draped towels dried out okay when being hung. The sink was an odd design; it was mounted on a plinth that was just the right side for it so left little to no space to put toiletries (especially not in the narrow gap against the wall).
In common with some other hotels, Just shares a dislike for coat hooks - nowhere to hook up a jacket or towel.
No evening meals here but breakfast was served in their underground room, a nice range of different continental foodstuffs, all quite healthy, and waitresses that kept tables clean and brought out coffee. Good service there, and wifi reached below too so was able to catch up with morning news!
The reception offered a storage service for luggage and went out of their way to help. Although they didn't have a bar they gave me some discount vouchers to use over the road at their sister hotel (the Glam) but I found that pricey, even with discount.
The front doors open automatically but are quite slow so a few times I walked straight into them as they didn't open in time. Also be aware that the steps leading up to the doors and floor of reception is smooth, which became slippery when wet.
An okay stay, but may try someplace else next time. I can't fault them for service, just for design and...
Read moreWe came in at 12pm but was unable to checkin, so we deposit our luggage and came back later at night. The fact that we came in early and were still given basement 1 room, when we were never given basement rooms before... We were shocked...
There was no aircon in the room, told the Night shift staff and he tried to reset the system and after that then told us it's the general aircon system, seems like he wasn't clear of the system well enough, after that then told us it's the heater??! confusion...
Then told us we had to open the windows, but we are on the basement floor/ ground which had a door, and supposed to open the window for air ventilation else it was really stuffy.
Thought it was kind of dangerous as strangers might enter our room even tho they told us it's under hotel premises, still felt the danger and couldn't sleep coz of this.
In the morning, the noise was so bad. it was located in the same floor as the breakfast place. Heard footsteps and talking and made it even worst to rest at 6-8am!!
They even didn’t have the initiative to change us to other rooms the next day, we have to tell them them to change us.
After the change, the rooms were way better.. but the bathroom had lousy shower drainage, and the water flow to the bedroom. 😵
Hotel did not provide basic amenities like water, kettle or coffee and tea. Had to request for a few times then they provided us.. service was really slow and bad too..
Heard from other hotel guests, they missed out providing towels and changed them to other hotels opposite without their knowledge, when they paid more for this hotel.
Would not visit this hotel again. Horrible for the price paid, totally not worth it.. service is also very bad. only had one hotel staff at night when many ppl were checking in at the same time and we had to wait for quite awhile. The staff were not friendly too.. no service recovery as well, until we had to request many times.
Pls avoid this hotel at all costs, as well as their other hotels in the vicinity that are under the...
