I never write reviews, but this place deserves a bad one. Our travel agent booked this hotel for us for our honeymoon. She called ahead to make sure that the room we had reserved had a balcony. She was assured that it did. When we arrived we were met by a very rude and unhelpful man working the front desk. Our room was as walk down the road he saw that we had numerous bags but did nothing to help us move them 100 yards down the road, The entrance to the room was a small narrow door situated tightly between racks of clothes and items from two souvenir shops. Though the door we were told we would find our room up a very narrow tall staircase then through another very small doorway and then up a 1.5’ wide winding staircase. Again no help offered. To say it was difficult to get our stuff into the room is a large understatement. When we arrived we saw that there was no Balcony. I went back to the front desk and told the rude gentleman of this issue. He said that a balcony had never been asked for and when I said that we did ask for it and were assured we would have it he basically called me a liar. He told me that it was our travel agents fault that she should have booked directly with them and not though the travel site that "pays her a commision" His level of rudeness was shocking. I immediately went to work to find another hotel that was more suitable. I found a great one with pleasant and helpful people and great rooms it is called: Hotel La Spiaggia. Even if they put nicer people at the front desk I still would not recommend the room they put us in. Besides its difficult location the shower was so small that I barely fit into it. When I used it I felt like Will Ferrel in the Movie Elf. It was ridiculous. Do not stay...
Read moreThe apartments are located a short walk (and a steep staircase) from the hotel at which you check in. Arrived 20 minutes before scheduled check-in, and was bluntly told to come back at the appointed time. (This was in stark contrast to arriving 3 hours early at a previous hotel, where I was told to rest, relax, given the wifi password, a cappuccino and croissant while they prepared the room!). The apartments are in a great place – close to the train station, right on the beach – so not a problem; we strolled around for 20 minutes and ate gelati. ||||After 20 minutes, we returned and were taken to the room (which we'd already located and at which we'd left our luggage). The pictures of the room indicated a balcony, so we paid top dollar. The room was small, had no balcony, no tea or coffee, no wifi and you can only shower comfortably if you're under 5'5". (Wifi was available in an adjacent waiting room, but not in the actual room.) The door had warped and wouldn't close properly, and we couldn't get one of the windows to open. It may not have been high season, but it was if this room hadn't been attended to in years. ||||While you don't go to the Cinque Terre to stay in a room – and the region is, obviously, stunning – the lack of hospitality and the room's shabbiness did not equate to the...
Read moreThis is a newly renovated hotel that operates at a separate building than the check in location. ||||Unfortunately, attempts to contact the property itself prior to check in (email and phone) was not successful as Expedia listed the check in time as only between 2-4pm. This is false. Check in is until 11pm, but it is located in another hotel:||||La Villa Degli Argentieri||Via Fegina 120/122||19016 Monterosso al Mare, Province of La Spezia||Italy||||If I hadn’t read another travelers review, I would not know this because it’s not instructed on Expedia or Da Flos website. ||||Once I found this, check in was very easy. The hotel receptionist walked us to the building with our rooms (Da Flo signage outside, green door entrance next to Miky Restaurant). Room is very clean. Located 3-5 min walk from Monterosso train station. Beach literally right outside our doors. The only complaint of the room was that the shower drain is slow and I had to be mindful not to flood the bathroom...||||For the price and the location, a little bit of inconvenience was acceptable for us. Hopefully this review helps others with the...
