Bagno Fegina — Local services in Monterosso al Mare

Overrated and dissapointing all I can think of when remembering my experience visiting here. I got there after 10 and I still couldn't find a spot with direct access to the sandy beach! Most of the beach is occupied with different umberlla companies, and they were all fully booked!! However, you can't find a website that let your reserve. It seems that the reservation for some of these places can be done via a phone call!! In a very limited hour of the day. And good luck getting someone to answer the phone!

I think sunbed companies have monopolied the beach. There are in total 4 very small public beach that due to Covid need to be booked ahead via the city website, and it should be done at least 40 hours before visiting. Just keep it in mind even if you go there early there is not much possibility to access the sandy beach. However, if you are there and want to swimm badly (I needed to swim after 2 hours hike in summer) there is a rocky part within 50 meters distance from the parking area. Disappointing and Disrespectful Experience

We recently visited this beach, unaware that it was private since there were no clear signs indicating so at the entrance from the parking lot. After settling in for a couple of hours, we were approached by a lifeguard who rudely informed us that the beach was private and we had to leave immediately. Despite our polite explanation that we were unaware of the private status, the lifeguard stood there, insisting we leave without even offering us the option to pay a fee and stay.

The lack of clear signage and the lifeguard’s disrespectful attitude left us feeling humiliated and unwelcome. A little understanding and better communication would have gone a long way in handling the situation more professionally. We were very disappointed by the experience and would not recommend this...

We decided to spend some time in Monterosso whilst visiting the Cinque Terre. This beach is a short walk from the train station. We found the beaches closer to the station where packed in like sardines, where as this beach had space and less crowds. We weren’t put off by the sign stating the beach was full, we asked the lifeguard, who looked at us and seemed to mutter, this way. Two sun beds and a umbrella 35€. Yes its steep compared to the rest of Europe but given the location, facilities and cleanliness of the toilets it was worth every penny. If you don’t already know the lifeguard is the key holder for the toilets, which you always rate a business by its loos. Impeccable. We wish we had eaten at the beach restaurant rather than walk into the old town, but we used it for snacks and drinks, service was friendly...
