Affittacamere La Muraria Di Ragonesi Mattia — Hotel in Monterosso al Mare

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! I booked a room at this property for a one night stay based on being offered early check in as I only had one day on the Cinqueterre. On my arrival I was told this was not possible and the staff would let me know later in the day when my room was ready. My calls and messages to the phone number I was provided with were left unanswered and when I did finally speak with someone I was told the staff were there and would let me in. So I carried my case up to the fifth floor and after repeatedly knocking on the door I discovered I had been misinformed yet again and there were no staff there to let me in. I had asked for directions prior to my arrival and was told all the information was on the booking details but the map location takes you to a road where there is no direct access to the property and eventually I worked out that I had to go around an alleyway that leads off the road but there is no information provided about this and as a female solo traveller I do not feel comfortable with this setup. The entrance and stairwell is not well maintained with peeling paint and there is an intercom panel with faded peeling labels for the other residences in the building but the ‘hotel’ does not have a button. I made alternative accommodation arrangements before any staff arrived and as I was leaving a couple of cleaners turned up but communication was difficult. I messaged the ‘manager’ and he was far from helpful. I received no apology and he sent me several argumentative messages and has refused my request to waive the cancellation fee and has proceeded with charging me for the night. Room was very clean and host was friendly and flexible on check in time, but the unit is at the top of 4 flights of stairs (no lift). The room and bathroom are quite small but perfectly good for a short stay.

The actual unit location is off the main stretch so it is quieter but the 4 flights of steep stairs will keep...

the room itself was good with nice bed and everything was clean. A big minus point is they dont let u store luggage after checkout which can end up being very expensive as luggage storage in CQ stations are 6 euro each piece of bag (and also quite inconvenient as u waste a lot of time...
