Safe clean and comfortable during our 9 night stay. Water ,juice, crackers, provided daily at no charge. Housekeeper was sweet and did a great job. Our host Alberto was a great guy who met us within 2 minutes of calling. Friendly and responsive to our needs. Just let him know approximate arrival time He booked a transfer to airport for us. Perfect location for buses anywhere in town. Use googlemaps and hit the bus icon. Only used taxi from train station and to airport. Breakfast was at small restaurant on corner. Great croissants and coffee. Try the sandwiches. Great value for staying multiple days. Prices advertised were more than what we paid. Multi day rate I suppose. No noise from street as tram is out of operation until July 2023. We used plates and utensils of the communal kitchen to eat spectacular meat and cheese from the grocery (2 minute walk)in our room several nights. Great prices on 6 packs of 750 ml water. Beautiful old building. Few scratches here and there. Just the way I like it. Felt like home. You are 10 minutes walk from all the restaurants you would ever want to eat at. Trastevere is the heart of the food scene. Cool jazz bands in the same area on the street by restaurants and the beautiful Santa Maria Trastevere church which is worth a visit. Dont miss Trastevere flea market on Sundays. Largest I have ever been to. Old ,new ,antiques, lots of clothes, souvenirs, old paper, train sets, and tons of other things. Second hand stores have items from .50 to 2000 euros. Bought my extra suitcase there also. Could have filled a container full of art and furniture. Worth a bus ride. Mercantino dell usato. Great trip centered at Dulcis In...
Read moreStayed one night and left even though they refused to refund my unused nights. I will file a claim with Booking.com. What a dump! There was grafitti all over the outside and everywhere in the area. We saw many crazy people yelling on the street just outside. We went to dinner and came back to the doors to the BNB wide open with no employees in sight. Went into the room and the door handle fell off when we closed the door. The manager said, with no apology whatsoever, that he would fix it the next day. We had the AC on high and then it wouldn't turn down or off all night because the batteries were old. The bed had no blanket, only sheets. I found only a very thin blanket and froze all night long. I took a shower and the shower head wouldn't stay in place. It kept falling down. The drain was clogged and water filled up in the pan and out the door. I plugged the hairdryer in at the only outlet in the bathroom on the opposite wall from the mirror and the plug came out of the wall. Then as I was drying my hair, the thin metal end of the hairdryer fell off and landed on my shoulder burning my skin. The manager scoffed at all of these things and proceeded to tell me that I had broken the lock and the outlet and he was going to file a complaint with Booking.com to collect money from me to pay for them. He never once apologised. This is a horrible place with even worse customer service. I subsequently checked into a beautiful hotel in a nice safe neighbourhood. Here they know how to treat...
Read moreTo start off, I have never stayed at an Airbnb and my wife had other impressions of what we were staying. But we are staying at the up and coming neighborhood of Testavere. Prior to the trip, Alberto our host was gracious well in advance to communicate with us a few weeks prior to our trip. This brought my mind at ease as we are venturing to a country that we knew little about, and knowing nothing of the language. As we arrived, things gradually got better to the point now that my wife doesnt want to leave. Alberto provided an "Italian breakfast" which I will miss dearly when we went back home. He was an excellent concierge as he provided us with maps, stops, suggestions and background information to help us get accustomed to Rome and our neighborhood. He even provided bus routes as we had a limited budget. Any issue that came up to us (late flights, shady cab rides) Alberto rectified with a solution designed to make our stay comfortable. I could not stress enough the value at staying in Dulcis In Fundo especially in our first time in Europe. Do you want to experience an elevated bohemian living next to Rome? Make sure to check in Dulcis in Fundo and ask for Alberto. He will make sure your stay will be an...
