A disappointing touristy trap, AVOID.
The pizza was chewy, the dough was wet and it completely lacked flavour. We went for a mozarella pizza and one where the crust was filled with ricotta. It had absolutely no taste. No salt, no herbs, no nothing. It was like eating cardboard. I was so disappointed as the reviews were really high, but I learned my lesson: you will not eat great Italian food in Trastevere, it's too touristy. But this has got to be the worst place.
I will add that the service was terrible. We booked a table online and when we came in lots of the tables were empty. Yet it took them 10 minutes to find us a RESERVED table, we were passed from one person to the next, and at one point the manager (?) told us there would be a 1 hour wait. When I reminded them I booked a table, suddenly they were able to find one for us. It was so far from the main section that the waiter only came around a few times, you had to go down the stairs to get their attention. We ordered a drink and some pizzas. The pizzas came, but the drinks did not. We were ignored most of the night. When it came time to pay, they of course added the drink to the bill. We were so annoyed. They removed the item from the bill, but there was no apology, nothing, we were just handed a second bill and told to pay downstairs, and the waiter was gone. There was a child's birthday party going on at the same time, so our evening was further ruined by loud shrieks of children, running around, shouting etc. just not somewhere you want to eat.
Very, very disappointed, you will not eat good food here (even if it looks good!). There is no flavour, the service was terrible, and we regret spending our Sunday night...
Read moreWe came in based on online blogs and tripadvisor suggesting it was a great place to have seafood. It was terrible for seafood, I cant speak for the pasta or pizza which looked great on the photos taken by other customers. But as seafood goes they are useless: As starter we ordered the octopus salad. I am 100% sure they didn’t cook the octopus in the restaurant because it tasted just like supermarket shop-by-weight octopus kept in vegetable oil: anyway I would give them a 5/10 for that dish. However as a main course we chose the fish of the day which was a rock-fish; It probably was a cheap catch because it was tasteless and the cod dish from the menu which was undercooked: the inside of the fillet was raw. We asked to the waitress to cook it fully and when they brought it again it was still not cooked through just a bit more. So or the chef was negligent or didnt care. After that we decided to do not push the issue further and we paid and left. The staff was polite although they didn’t seem to question the chef how the fish didn’t look cooked through. An experienced waiter wouldn’t serve a dish after the complained hasn’t been addressed or clearly resolved… (im a restaurant manager). The place looked very clean a...
Read moreWhen I came here the restaurant was busy but they were able to find me place to sit. Due to the fact that I came here alone the waitresses completely ignored me. I had to wait 5 minutes to be seated, 10 minutes for them to give me menu (only after I asked them several times). 10 more minutes to get the wifi password due to the fact that the menu was qr version. When I asked waiter they either ignored me, or said they'll come back in a minute and never came back so I had to stand up I ask it myself. When the restaurant became less crowded the owner came to take my order. He really improved the overall impression of coming to this restaurant, he advised some food, asked how was it and overall was the soul of the restaurant. Pizza Peppo with anchovies was tasty and I enjoyed it. Since Trestavere became very popular and touristic neighborhood, this restaurant saves the day located in a more quite area with almost zero noise and chaos from tourists. Overall great place, but be prepared to be ignored especially of you're by yourself so you should take initiative in...
