I’ve traveled a few times, but in fact this hotel was without a doubt the worst I’ve ever had. Starting right from the hotel staff where, in times of pandemic, no one wears a mask inside and at the entrance of the hotel they say it is mandatory to wear a mask. Breakfast was horrible and with very little variety. In terms of hygiene, it was possible to verify that the coffee machine was very dirty, implying that it had not been cleaned for a long time. The room was terrible, where the air conditioning didn’t work, the floor was all dirty (and you couldn’t be barefoot because our feet were all dirty), stained and poorly placed curtains. When looking at the view from my room I saw a metal plate in my face where if you look down you could see dirty socks and underwear on the floor. The staff was very rude in general. I booked the hotel for 5 nights, having left the hotel during the 3 day of our vacation, having stayed there for two nights. On the morning of the third day I spent 5 minutes at the reception to have breakfast and no one showed up, deciding to go have breakfast elsewhere and when I leave I see the gentleman at the reception smoking outside, greeting him and he didn’t even reciprocate. When I arrived at the hotel around 3:30pm, my room still hadn’t been cleaned and tidied, and the excuse they gave was that we hadn’t sat anything at reception (no one was there, they were busy smoking outside the hotel, since they saw me leave, this not passing on information to their colleagues, nor do they have anything that it is possible to put on the bedroom door to inform if they are people or not). I also saw the gentleman who cleans up completely sweating, with his clothes all wet and running his hands in the sweat on his face, and then I see him tidying the rooms in that state. I asked to bring me towels and it tools two hours to bring them. When I went to cancel the reservation, the gentleman at reception was very rude and cynical towards us. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone, I just don’t give it a zero rating because it’s...
Read moreDo not go here! In short: Small, bad beds, grosely stained mattress, extremely hot shower, extremely impolite staff, no free wifi (also insanely expansive)
When we first arrived the entrance looked very promising. Then came the checking in, the desk clerk looked asif we just insulted him, hardly spoke english and was basically unaproachable for the rest of the stay. We then got taken into a small elivator (if you want to fit in 4 people, better prepare to hug) to our rooms. It was a small room, with an outdated tv that didn't work. The beds were like a wooden board so a comfortable night was out of the question. We quickly noticed a very nauseating smell eminating from the closet which we then never used and quickly closed. The airconditioning did manage to make the room a little bit colder which was a welcome surprise, and it made the strange noises the airco unit made almost bareable. The bathroom was even smaller than the room, but one person could just fit in there. Yet here is where the biggest problem was: the shower. It was impossible to stand under the water as it litterally had steam comming of. You needed to stand near it and splash some water onto yourself. Of course we notified the staff (desk clerk) who simply grunted 'will be fixed tomorrow' while looking even more infuriated than normal. Regardless to say, they didn't fix it the day after, or any following day.
When we booked the hotel it said free wifi, and they do give 'free wifi' however you will have to log in, and they charge you dearly for it. Wifi: 10 euro for 1 code. That works for 1 day, on only 1 device. So only one person can use the internet for one day (on only 1 device), and it'll cost you 10 euro each time. You will also have to randomly log in again, sometimes 3 times in 5 minutes, sometimes once...
Read moreThe best thing about Giglio is it’s location. You can never ask for a better location than this. Exactly three minutes walk from Termini Station, it is surrounded by nice out sitting restaurants, a small super store that also have reasonably priced Italian wine and some of the tourist attractions at walkable distance. Collosium is approximately 1.5 kms from here. Though there are buses (number H) from Termini but I will advise to take a cab because the tourists pickpocketing is so rampant that it is really a menace (we saw an American man and his wife literally crying as they were robbed of their wallet which had his all credit cards). However, let’s come back to the hotel Giglio. If you fancy a hotel with a large balcony or big windows then you must look some other property. But if you are a genuine tourist who wants value for money, centrally located just go for this place. Our room was on fifth floor and our A/C was set at 26 degrees Celsius. There was no remote in the room. I spoke to reception and Mr Rauf came rushing upstairs, brought a remote and set the temperature as we wanted. Though we were only two people we were given a room fit for four people. The bathroom was really spacious. They don’t provide a lot of toiletries but good enough to shower. |I have had breakfast at various expensive hotels in Rome, Florance and Siena but the breakfast provided at Giglio was much better than most. |I must also add that the very kind girl at the breakfast service named Safia was just an Angel for us. She is soft spoken, very oriented towards customers and one who looks for solutions. We wanted vegetarian breakfast and she got us cheese tomato sandwiches because everything else had meat. |Overall this is a great hotel because it gives you best value for money, it’s location and...
