Museo delle Illusioni Roma — Attraction in Rome

Time well spent inside this museum! It was a welcome change of pace for our three grandkids and a break from the walking around Rome, Italy. You can easily kill between 1 -2 hours inside if you're willing to stop and take in all the exhibits and read the information posted for each. Caution: The inside of the museum is only a single level with several ways to navigate it. But keep in mind that it can get crowded quickly, so please be mindful of that as you may have to limit your time at some of the interactive exhibits in order for others to participate. But you can always visit your favorite exhibits over and over as there didn't seem to be a time limit once you are inside. Museo delle Illusioni Roma was a great stop with our kids (4, 10, and 14), and all of them had a blast. The interactive exhibits kept them engaged, and there was plenty to explore without feeling repetitive. Some illusions were simple fun, while others had a cool science aspect that made them more interesting.

We went around 10 AM on a Monday, and it wasn’t crowded at all, which made the experience much better. We could take our time with each exhibit, get good pictures, and really enjoy the different rooms without feeling rushed.

It’s not a huge museum, so don’t expect to spend hours here, but it’s a great way to break up a day of sightseeing, especially with kids. Would definitely recommend for families looking for something fun and...

"Prendi e porta a casa!" si direbbe a Roma...ed è proprio così che va intesa un'esperienza qui dentro. A pochi passi da una delle basiliche giubilari più note e in una via che nasconde un sacco di cose da vedere, questo piccolo ma molto richiesto museo in realtà è un'esperienza immersiva e tra le più appaganti per i giovani (che diciamolo, di chiese e archeologia non è che siano proprio appassionati...). Poche stanze ma tutte piene di illusioni che hanno a che fare con la fisica e la psicologia molto più che con la tecnologia ed è forse l'unico museo dove i protagonisti, i pezzi esposti, sarete voi stessi. Grazie soprattutto al personale che ha una pazienza e una disponibilità fuori dal comune, anche laddove non capirete bene come fare sarete aiutati e siccome questo è il museo più instagrammabile di Roma sono certo che sarete contentissimi di realizzare scatti da condividere sui social e mostrarvi o nani o giganti, con la testa su un piatto o su un precipizio. Molte sono illusioni ottiche che trovate anche nei libri e le spiegazioni sono chiare e comprensibili. In realtà non ci vuole molto a visitarlo ma l'esperienza fa uscire tutti soddisfatti e con il sorriso, cosa non da poco. Perché non il massimo? Solo perché credo che il prezzo sia non proprio contenuto e non in linea con altri biglietti per attrazioni con contenuti culturalmente più elevati. Ma direi che è l'unica nota negativa (e personale) che ho trovato quindi lo consiglio a prescindere, ovviamente se siete stanchi di visitare chiese e archeologia di cui sopra...che meritano sicuramente altrettanto.
