While reading the menu outside we witnessed a women drop and break a bottle on purpose onto the ground. That should have been our first sign to walk away. She yelled at the waiter stating she would not pay 9euro for sitting. The waiter was rushing us to sit and I asked the fee he said 1.50 for bread that’s it... that wasn’t it. I refused to sit at the table with the broken glass at it and the irate customer. After a few minutes the people left but knocked over their chairs when leaving. After we sat I was reviewing the menu there would be an additional 15% service charge in addition to the 1.50pp. We were then asked not once, not twice but three times what water we wanted. We waited and set a timer and was giving them ten minutes or we were leaving. During that time we watched multiple people be sat and someone mentioned about the broken glass to a female who looked to be the owner. She said no time for that as she fixed up a new table. The waiter finally brought us out water within the time we had set and I mentioned to my boyfriend that I didn’t feel comfortable. By the point it was too awkward to leave so we ordered. While waiting for the food we noticed our waiter was running around like crazy, taking orders, greeting guests all at once. Then the police arrived- we were thinking because of the people from the previous incident. Nope, they were monitoring cars parked on the road and our waiter randomly jumped in the vehicle and drove away. At this point I’m in disbelief. About 5-7mins later he comes running down the road greeting people(so random) We receive our food and it tasted very good(only good thing). We watch as others order their food and receive their bills questioning the service charges. The waiter doesn’t really explain and just says pay. There was a couple two tables over from us that were eating and a gentleman approached them from the street and was asking them for their water. Now IF this happened in Canada the waiter would come over and ask them to leave. In this case a different waiter came over and watched along with two others from a distance but did nothing. The poor young girl gave him the bottle and he proceeded to ask her for the case of water that she had recently purchased from the supermarket. She finally said no and he walked away. He then proceeded to bother another lady for cigarettes and she gave him some. Again the waiters and owners did nothing to stop this. We proceeded to ask for our bill fully knowing the 1.50pp and the service charge and expecting the water to not be free. We received our bill and it was 3.50euro for the water which seemed really high. Just when we thought this couldn’t get worse, we paid. My boyfriend said yes that is fine and we instantly thought oh no, we just gave him an additional tip. Surprisingly he brought us our change and said leave me a tip to which we took as he a joke which we just paid 15%. As my boyfriend finished his last sip of wine the waiter came over and asked where his tip was, we both kind of looked at each other in disbelief and my boyfriend put 1euro in the bowl. We left feeling taken advantage of and unsure of what just happened. All in all, the food was decent but the...
Read moreI came to this restaurant with my wife and 1y old son. To sum up our visit: After we seat waiter asked us what kind of Water we preferred - still or sparkling. We didnt ordered water. We ordered 2x spaghetti and 1x gnocchi for son, and wine. Waiter came with water (which we didnt order), 3x breads (which we didnt order-but on most places you get bread for free so i was thinking that here is the same). Food was very average. Nothing special.
And now "the best"... After we finished eat, i asked waiter for the bill, and i told that i want to pay by card. Than he bring bill and told me to give him card (never leave your card from your eyes!). I said "no, i will not give you card, please bring terminal". So i was asked to go into restaurant to the desk to pay. In the same time waiter told me "ok but you have to give me tip in cash". I was thinking that he was joking... I paid inside restaurant. After i paid, waiter was next to me waiting for tip. I said i have only card, so he told me "go to your wife, maybe she has". I said no, and i went. After this very unpleasant moment i checked bill (attached). They charged us for bread 3x1.5e (which we didnt ordered!), coperto for 1y old son (he was sitting on baby cart, waiter didnt asked us about baby chair do i just took another chair which later was taken for another cuatomer). Totally 6e for coperto. Also water for 3,5e (which we didnt ordered, so i was thinking that was for free). Totally they charged us for 13e for coperto/bread/water, and at the end waiter was standingu next to me persuaiding me to give him tip. Its disgusting –...
Read moreHonestly, this is a generous 2. This was the first dinner that my husband and I ate in Italy. We're from NY and know good Italian food as we have wonderful Italian restaurants everywhere in LI. Regardless, our family and friends assured us that the food in Italy is out of this world. We were stoked!
We tried Elettra since it was very close to our place and had pretty good reviews. We got a table right away. It was crowded. All good things at first. My husband ordered french onion soup and I ordered creamy mushroom soup. Two of our favorites. Kind of an odd choice for apps, but again, the reviews were good so why not? My husbands soup had a light pale broth and very watery flavor. Can't really fault them though...it's FRENCH onion soup. My soup was worse. I order creamy mushroom soup everywhere it's offered. It's my favorite soup. This was inedible. It was over 10 euros (ridiculous, I know). It literally consisted of sautéed mushrooms with heavy cream poured on top. Absolutely no seasoning. No marrying of flavors. It was clearly not brought to a boil (I'm a soup connisoir, remember!). It was horrendous. Inedible. Such a waste.
My bolognese was decent. Not nearly as good as what we get at home. My husband's truffle mushroom pasta was severely lacking flavor.
Would not recommend. It only got a 2 because the waiter...
