As an Italian traveling for work, I wish I did like the place but there were so many things that just didn't justify the price. Only tourists would accept such ridiculousness. I'll divide it in pros and cons:
PROS Great position (really good) Nice staff No surcharge for room service (BUT see in the cons) CONS The hotel has two locations apparently and I had to walk out of the building and on the other side of the street to go my room and back again every time I had to have breakfast or go to the reception. The room was super small, the furniture was old (not vintage, old) and the place was just not cured. The wooden floor had awful marks, the bathroom floor was missing some tiles and had a huge hole at the base of the shower, the ceramic sink was cracked, and the door had signs of an attempted break-in. Finally, I had no chair nor table where I could work or have breakfast. I had breakfast in the dining room once and, even though the food was good, the place was so small and packed I had to sit at the same table as another couple and had to ask the man to stand up each time I wanted to get something else from the buffet. Therefore, I had to eat little and leave right away. The next day I didn’t want to have the same experience and, knowing that room service was free of surcharge, I called the reception the night before and asked where I had to leave the paper with the food request. Obviously they said I had to take it to the reception, which in that moment meant getting out of my bed and walking in my PJs to the other side of the street. Truly this didn’t really bother me (since then the guy allowed me to tell him what I wanted on the phone) but it is symbol of an overall poor thinking.
Final Thoughts: It is truly unacceptable to pay 120 euros per night for this kind of service. I don’t hate the place but it is obvious they are aiming for audiences that would think small spaces and old style service are the...
Read moreShitty, dirty, you better stay in the garbage dump! First of all, the pictures here and on booking are not realistic at all. They’ll tell you you are staying in another building, when you go you’ll find really shitty rooms, the floors were sticky, the toilet had dried shit in it, the toilet seat didn’t fit, mold in the shower, the bed was sooo dirty underneath the mattress. When we complained about this first they said they’ll send someone to clean the room, they didn’t, then they said ooh but you chose this building you get the choice when you are booking, there was no choice on booking.com after we booked they send us an email saying that we’ll be staying in another building. Then they said we have a room im the main building but we’ll have to pay extra! Excuse me! I paid for a clean standard quality room and i had no idea about this whole buildings fiasco, they’ll try to charge you more to stay in the main cleaner building, that’s where they put guests whom they know will complain and have different passports let’s just say. The second day after a lot of complaints they gave us another room in the same building still had mold and not so clean toilet but was a bit better than the other room. They are not only deceiving people with the pictures and asking for more money for a better room, they are not clean! And the AC is soooo loud it sounds like a whole factory we were not able to sleep with it on and when we turned it off it was tooo hot, we couldn’t sleep for the two nights we were there. Take your money elsewhere where We didn’t check for bedbugs but we did a whole bed bugs protocol when we went back home because the bed in the first room was super dirty, then we knew that this whole neighbourhood is famous for bedbugs in their hotels...

I recently had a terrible experience with Hotel Sant'Angelo, and I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to be extremely careful, especially when booking the Annex option on Booking.com. This is listed as Dépendance on their website, but don't be fooled—it’s nothing more than a low-end Airbnb-style place. It’s not an extension of the hotel, nor is it even in the same building. Essentially, it's a separate BnB, and definitely not what was advertised on Booking.com.
Upon realizing this bait-and-switch situation, we immediately contacted the hotel, politely explaining that we wanted to stay in the main hotel, as promised on Booking.com. Otherwise, we would cancel the reservation, as it was not the product or service we had agreed to. After a brief discussion, the receptionist rudely left us on hold and didn't return. The entire interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional.
What’s worse is the management’s shady tactics. Without our authorization, they attempted to withdraw money from our card and even canceled the reservation, slapping on an excessive cancellation fee of around €100. Booking.com staff confirmed that the fee should have been waived, but the hotel clearly didn't care. Fortunately, we froze our card in time, knowing it was a scam in the making.
The behavior of this hotel’s management and staff shows just how low they are willing to go to make a quick buck. Rather than handling the situation professionally, they chose to hassle us and try to swindle money, knowing full well they could easily get new guests.
My advice: be very cautious when booking Hotel Sant'Angelo. Don’t fall for the deceptive Annex/Dépendance listing, and be prepared for poor service if you do. This...
