I originally reviewed the convent several years ago and raved about it. We just checked out after our fourth stay and i feel compelled to update my prefious comments. Now in fairness i am older and abit worn and cynical now so make of this as you wish. The convent experience has also changed in this time. To start with they have wifi! Excellent. Not so excellent is thst they control the use by turning it off at 9 pm until 8.30am. Annoying and inconvenient. Then it completely stopped working for the next 36 hours. The sisters seem to have employed some young people to run the front desk and make bookings. Their English is functional which makes things easier. These people gave us conflicting information and were much less interested in helping compared to the sisters. They refused to book a cab for instance. One day we returned to our room to find empty boxes left by a tradesman who had installed an air conditioner in our room. This was done without our permission. Our valuables were around the place ( no not our passports). This was brought to the young man's attention at the desk with no particular response. Also the road outside the convent is NOISY now. It was much quieter before. There is also alot more noise around the building in general. ||||So yes it is still cheap and well located. It has lost its charm in my eyes i guess. Oh and i think 60p for a third of a cup of hot water from a machine is remarkable. There....
Read moreThis hotel used to be a Nun’s convent so the rooms are very simple but clean. My family and I paid for 11 days stay. It was extremely hot in Rome mid September. They only ran the air conditioning during the day from about 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM during the Nuns’ afternoon siesta. Then it was turned on again at about 6:30 PM until 10:00 PM. So during the nights it was very very hot and uncomfortable. We tried to find another hotel but unfortunately all hotels did not have any vacancies. Our family is large and required 4 rooms. Needless to say I was so disappointed. The check in staff were very kind however have no say about the operation of the air conditioning, since it is operated by the...
Read moreThis is a very quiet place located next to the Vatican Museums. You can't even hear the traffic once inside. Extremely clean and well-cared for, you feel you are in a serene oasis in the heart of the metropolis. Although not a big part of the staff, the nuns make you feel welcome and cared for. It is not a true B&B since they do not serve breakfast, but there is a very clean breakfast room with fridge and sink, vending machines for cappuccino, food items, and even beer! I was there in 2014, but I imagine my comments are...
