This review is specially about the big room. As others have pointed out, each room operated by this company is different.||||The space is loft-like, up a flight of stairs, and rather odd but it suited our family of four perfectly. Just set your expectations that you are in Rome, in a building that is probably hundreds of years old.||||There is road right outside the room but it is relatively quiet.||||A low, queen (possibly king) bed is in the middle of the main room (the pillows are rather flat), a (super?) single bed is up six steps on a platform area. This upper area is also the location of the bathroom. There is a folding bed as well. ||||Additionally in the main space there is a small table, a couple chairs, and a tv on a long table.||||You will find a sink, mini-fridge, and hot plate just outside the door. ||||While the whole place is unique, two features that you need to be aware of:||1. The toilet is on riser and for men, you will hit your head on the ceiling||2. The corner shower has a small footprint. Fortunately, the shower head can be adjusted so that a 6' 1" person does not have to duck. And there is a lot of water pressure.||||WIth the logistics out of the way - you will want this room because of its location. We walked to the Vatican, the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and a multitude of other locations.||||If you decide to have the simple, continental breakfast, you will need to walk to a different building (just a few doors away). The breakfast area contains three, two-seat tables and you will be taken care of by the gracious staff.||||We worked the management to set us up with rides from and to the airport which isn't necessary but it made that part of the trip stress free.||||There is a grocery store a few doors away. And a wonderful coffee shop right outside...
Read moreI was a bit apprehensive about booking this hotel because there were so few reviews, but we were delighted with our choice. The hotel is more like AirBnB - you call on arrival, and a host will meet you at the front door (there is no reception), show you around, and give you a key. The taxi from the train station cost 8 Euros and our host was there as promised. We had the "family annex," a large, quirky studio apartment with plank floors, giant windows and a tiny kitchenette in an old building. It's the room with the red bedspread in the photos. (The kitchenette is not much more than a mini fridge and hot plate - good for snacks mostly, but it wasn't advertised as anything more than that.) The neighbourhood was incredibly central, just a short walk to Campo d'Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon... pretty much everything. There are excellent restaurants (like Emma and Verso Sera) a stone's throw away. Breakfast was served in a tiny breakfast room in a nearby building. We booked a car to the airport through the hotel for 40 Euros and the driver was waiting for us 10 minutes ahead of the appointed time. This room was a great option for families, or people who just want to spread out a bit. We peeked into a couple of the empty rooms in the other building and they looked just liked the photos, but smaller than our room. I'd stay here again in...
Read moreThere are many rooms managed by this group. Please be aware that the room you are renting may not be the room in the photo or the photo might be the best version of the room, e.g.. taken with the right light and on the best angle. ||Firstly our room had a small kitchenette at the top of stairs and we decided not to use it. In the room there are home built stairs that lead up to another bed and then to a toilet which is risen once again. I had to tell the kids not to jump from the landing and be careful on the stairs as the likely hood of missing a step and twisting their ankle was definitely there.||The breakfast is held in a small room, with 3 tables for 2 and if you are not first in you will have to wait in the hall until someone is finished. Then dishes are washed by hand (and I mean with their bare hands) under running water. The staff are nice and do their best but don't think that you are at a hotel as you clearly are not.||Basically you are paying for the location. Do not put high standards...
