We recently had an unforgettable dining experience at Ristorante da Pancrazio. We were celebrating our honeymoon and my wife's birthday, and the evening exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Our waitress, Georgiana, was exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she ensured that every detail of our meal was perfect. The highlight of the evening was when the staff surprised my wife with a small cake and sang "Happy Birthday." It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the night even more special. My wife was thrilled, and it created a beautiful memory for us.The food was delicious, showcasing the best of traditional Roman cuisine. We particularly enjoyed the pistachio ravioli and the lamb, both of which were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Each dish was prepared with care and presented beautifully. The ambiance of the restaurant, with its historic setting and warm atmosphere, added to the charm of our celebration. Dining amidst the ancient ruins of the Theatre of Pompey made the experience unique and unforgettable. We highly recommend Ristorante da Pancrazio to anyone looking for excellent food, superb service, and a memorable dining experience. Thank you to Georgiana and the entire staff for making our special evening so wonderful. We will definitely return on our next...
Read moreI honestly don't know what these reviews are but it was the opposite experience from what we had. We had high hopes and made a reservation, although it is low tourist season we had read positive things so wanted to make sure we got a table. We sat downstairs for the 'Roman Experience' we did get that as the place felt as abandoned as ancient rome.
We were left waiting a long time before having our order taken which didn't make us feel very valued. Having such a beautiful and unique building it wasn't too bad as we had something to look at and the service did improve slightly as the night went on.
Once we ordered the food it came pretty quick which sent alarm bells off for me. The starter was pretty boring, nothing special and with a slither of anchovy drowning in burrata not very generous. The spinach (i think it was) was very dry and painfully bland!
Our pasta dishes were so bland i really struggled to pick out any flavour at all. My bowl had a rather large chip in it too which while minor I thought was just poor eye for detail. I hate to say it but I would put this place down as a tourist trap. They rely totally on the aesthetics of the building to the detriment and quality of the food. After a 4day stay this was the worst food we...
Read moreThe restaurant is built above the ruins of Pompeo's amphitheatre, a character who intrigued me a lot due to his role in the history of Rome. For this reason I was very interested in dining in this restaurant. Unfortunately due to the constant arrival and departure of large groups of tourists and the acoustics of the rooms we decided to eat outside. The characteristic Roman cuisine did not live up to expectations, perhaps due to the service being interfered with by the movement of tourists. Starter and first course arrived together. My wife's first course (cacio e pepe pasta) was cold. The small table didn't allow us to keep all the dishes together, so we asked to come back later with the artichoke appetizer. One of the artichoke portions had an inedible stem. The second pasta dish, however, had half the quantity of pasta compared to the portions that we then checked with the neighboring tables (despite the picture does not clearly show it). One positive aspect was the reaction of the staff when we complained. Well done. They offered us a free drink or a dessert, but we declined the offer. Maybe we will return, but in a period with...
