Bar tables are very uncomfortable, super tight and very high, esp if you have bags there's almost nowhere to put them
The starter was stunning, sheep ricotta with hardly any tang nor sheep stench. Topped w well seasoned aubergine sauce and local sausage
Burrata is rlly nothing special imo. The sun-dried tomatoes were intensely sweet and sour with some bite, and that goes rlly well w their burrata. But it's overpriced, at 22euro considering how in Singapore you can find the same thing
Cheese and meats platter was decent. Generally speaking the meats are well seasoned, quite intense although waxy cos of the fats. The cheeses had their own characteristics too but they weren't rlly my thing, although the blue was quite good. All the meats had more bite than I am used to, but it's not a big deal. Salami piccante unfortunately is overpowered by the chili, u can't taste much else. The collar(bottom, super marbled) was addictive, lard was quite tasteless, salami was quite good and the meat just below the salami piccante had a slightly spicy aftertaste which was nice
Carbonara was alright, the sauce again had this bitterness which I don't like but it wasn't as strong. This one was creamy? Not sure why, not very yolky. Pasta again was what I assume is the Roman al dente, not rlly my thing. You should follow their recommendation, get the pasta abit more cooked if you're not Italian, that's probably more preferable to most foreigners. Their guanciale is fried till it's basically lard, hardly tastes like meat for the fatty parts. And for the muscle of the guanciale, it's really incredible. The guanciale lives up to their identity as a butchery, I might come back to get a slab(I forgot to today)
Overall it's quite decent, esp the platter is worth a try if this is really the best meats Rome has to offer. But skip the burrata, and I'm pretty sure there should be many other places that offers something that is of similar quality, there's no need to brave the crowds and the crammed environment
Got the coppa, guanciale and gorgonzola to takeaway and coppa was seriously good(35euro per kg,so 200g was around 7euro). Somehow these taste better after takeaway, and warming up a little bit to let the fat render. Gorgonzola wasn't as good, but maybe I shouldn't have waited 5 days? Seems a bit dried out. And apparently real parmigiano is only about 1.4x as good as the real stuff, but costs 60euros per kg. Guanciale has a strong spice, think it's juniper? The spice comes thru very nicely, pretty decent. Can try...
Read moreLiterally the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant. Literally. Tldr - terrible service, exceptionally stuck up owner and waiters, awful carpaccio.
So, the long story.
We entered and saw an empty table. As normal people living on planet Earth, nobody greeted us or guided us, so we sat. A waitress in the meantime came by close, and I asked her politely if anyone can come and take our orders. She said in an incredibly stuck up and rude fashion: “No! Because this table is reserved!” I said: “But there is no sign the its…” as she turned her back and literally walked away. We stood up to exit, absolutely flabbergasted by her behavior, when a waitress came and said: “we can put you downstairs.” I replied that we really have no preferences and just want to eat, and that other lady was being very rude. As they seated us, the waitress came back again and said: “I have to explain something. Maybe you’re not from here, but since the table was dirty (which it absolutely was not), that means that it wasn’t free! And that lady wasn’t rude, because she is an owner!” I kid you not, that’s what she said. I told her that we aren’t from here, its our first time in Rome, and we understand if there’s a cultural sign or etiquette that we dont get, but first - the table was clean, and second - that doesnt give anyone the right to be that rude. Thirdly - being an owner does not mean you are not rude. As far as i remember the client is always right. Its not “the owner is never rude””. The waitress was obviously feeling uncomfortable because she was sent by the rude owner who was serving and shut us off. We said that its not a problem and we just want to eat. We ordered some stuff, of which, by the way, everything was mediocre at best, and some carpaccio. The waitress didnt warn us that the carpaccio is bathed in mint and blue cheese, which we disdain, but as we tried to tell her that we dont want to eat it, she just shrugged her shoulders as if to say: “nothing i can do”. Five minutes later another waiter pours water on me and acts like nothing happened. And then we asked for the bill (which included the carpaccio) and left. We literally payed a hundred euro to be insulted and aggravated by a bunch of snobs with the self confidence that clients should thank them for existing.
PLEASE, never go there.

Read moreThis is not my first time here, but the first time I came I forgot to post a review. What can I say …. This place gets better and better each time I come. I must admit if I go to Rome I almost force my friends to take me here every single time I visit. The carbonara is arguably the best in Rome, but do not miss ordering some starters or other types of pasta! Everything is top quality! We had maialino with Chianti topped with giardiniera, the meat was soft and tender, the crispy bread underneath was perfectly adding crunchiness to the pork that had been delicately cured with Chianti wine, and the giardiniera on top gave an extra kick that was wonderful ! The fiori di zucca stuffed with coda alla vaccinara were incredible, so were the fried anchovies with tzatziki, and the burrata with fried courgettes and bottarga was fantastic as well! Then came the Carbonara, the Cacio e Pepe, and the gnocchi all’Amatriciana! All of them were a master class in the art of making the Perfect dish. Each pasta we had was beyond delicious, it was unforgettable! The wine was a perfect pairing, a white wine called Quota bassa, si good we had to have 2 bottles ( we were 5 people ). The desserts were outstanding as well, from a Ricotta and visciole to the tiramisu, you must not leave the place without ordering a dessert! Even if you are full, you must have a dessert! We were full, but I remembered that they were good, so I persuaded the other people to order it, and they thanked me later. The wonderful waiter we had, Alessio, was a charming young man who was able to look after us so well, he was smiling, was kind, had a great sense of humour, and it was very competent and kind, despite if the fact that the place was very busy ! He gave us the perfect advice for the wonderful wine we had throughout the meal! Waiters like this are incredibly rare to find ! But everybody else we interacted with was extremely polite, warm, and wonderful ! If you like food, this is a must ! Book in advance, as it is very busy, and do not even think of just turning up without a reservation because there is no chance you will get in ! When you book, grab any time you find, and remember to reconfirm once they send you the reminder ! Do not be late, and enjoy one of the best food experience that Roma...
