My husband and I stayed for 3 days at the end of September 2019. Our room was an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the historic centre. The Prati/Vatican district is a quiet and relatively non-touristy area where you walk the streets among the locals, and even at night not worry about being approached by vendors or almost being pickpocketed (yes, both those things happened to us in the historic centre).||||The area is also a great base to explore Rome by foot. So much is within walking distance. Piazza del Popolo is about 500 m from the hotel, the metro is maybe 500 m or so from the hotel, and delicious gelato can be found at Gelateria A...Modomio, just down the street from the hotel. Vulio, another terrific place to eat (cheap and delicious!) is about 850 m walk from the hotel. My husband and I also walked from the hotel to the various sites in the historic centre - several kilometres, but it was an easy and pleasant walk, about 20 minutes or so.||||Our room (King Superior) is probably the size of an average North American hotel room, but its high ceilings make it seem airier and roomier than usual. The air conditioning is top-notch - we were so relieved to crank it up after a hot day! The room was kept spotless; the cleaning lady cleaned it every day. The room faces a main street but with the windows shut, it was very quiet. We also could not hear the other guests at the hotel. Wifi was fast too, if that matters to you.||||The hotel felt very secure - you need a pass to get into the hotel AND into your room. And after hours you even need a pass to get into the building!||||The best part of the hotel, though, has to be Max. Unbeknownst to us and Max, a guest had managed to change all the air conditioning units to blow only heat, even though it was 26 celsius outside!!! Ridiculous. However, Max was so quick to respond - he called in the maintenance person and fixed the issue. Max will also give you great recommendations for food (both inexpensive and pricey), and also draw on a map for you the restaurants, and paths to all the sites to see. He is very friendly and accommodating, smiling and always helpful, and very funny :)||||Tips:||-Getting into the hotel initially was a little confusing - you have to buzz the hotel on the outside of the building (using the clearly marked button), walk into the building and then immediately walk through a courtyard to another set of doors. There, you have to buzz the hotel again (there's a clearly marked button for this) and go to the 2nd or 3rd floor (I forget which floor now). If you don't go through the courtyard, you won't be able to access the hotel.||-The lift is a little small and should only be used for luggage or for mobility issues. My husband and I used the steps all the time - they were very easy...
Read moreWhat an amazing place to stay in Rome! We stayed at RESIDENZA ALEXANDER for four nights on vacation - if you're accustomed to typical hotels (big lobbies, fitness centers, huge breakfast spreads, etc.), don't be concerned about trying something a little different. Max was our host, and made check in and check out exceptionally easy (we arrived after their typical receiving hours, and then upon departure needed to store our bags all day). He also answered whatsapp messages when we needed a little help when we were out and about. The room was gorgeous, and the location was OUTSTANDING. We found everything super accessible. You are in the middle of an exceptional area for shopping, and a short walk to the river. With the help of the Lime scooters, we were able to see everything we had hoped for...
Read moreStayed here for two nights with my partner in January. Location is excellent, we walked all over Rome and saw the major attractions without needing to use public transport once.||||The guesthouse itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds are large and extremely comfortable. ||||Carola, the owner was friendly and helpful and also allowed us to leave our luggage in the property after we had checked out which prevented us dragging it around with us.||||My only complaint about the guesthouse is that the breakfast area is very very small and cramped. However, there is a great selection of foods available and the breakfast itself is delicious. As I tend to be a little claustrophobic I just brought my breakfast back to the room. Problem solved! ||||Thanks for a...
