I’ve been here a few times. Although it is pricey. The food to me was always pretty tasty. I can see why people don’t feel that they are kind to foreigners, but I personally never let that get in the way of me getting a good meal.
I like the food overall. In particular the Buffalo mozzarella and Parma ham. They say it’s from Campinha region, but who truly knows.
I enjoy the different pastas normally and I like the Montepulciano that they serve.
This recent visit is what prompted my 3 stars although I feel I am being graceful by not giving 2. But that is because I normally enjoy the overpriced pasta here and didn’t let that stop me from coming back.
I had ordered a steak dish, medium rare, and it had potatoes and a side of salad. Halfway through eating it, I saw an entire insect, properly cooked, on its back mixed in the potatoes.
I was so shocked, but I made no scene… Nor did I have the mindset to take a picture out of shock. They promptly took both of our plates up. Apologized. I asked for water, and another glass of wine! I needed it after not knowing if I ate another bug that I didn’t order intentionally!
They offered me another one. I kindly declined and let them know that I’m aware that things happen. After about 10 minutes, I got out of my head and asked for a small potion of just some pasta.
They charged us for everything and I paid and left.
I do think that things happen, but it doesn’t take away the shock of the creature who lost its life because of my order. 🥴
I’m sure this incident will hopefully prompt them to pay closer attention...
Read moreWe were approaching the end of our one week visit to Rome and I was beginning to worry that we were not going to experience a special dining experience. Our lunch at 3 Quarti eliminated any cause to worry. This simple restaurant in the heart of the Prati district served us a delicious and satisfying meal. The fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta cheese were amazing. And the “3 Quarti” appetizers: small pieces of fried homemade bread topped with a delicious homemade tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese were both simple and sublime. Also, both of our pasta dishes were extraordinary. (I won’t’ go into detail about these as I am running out of adjectives to describe how good the food here is.) Almost everything at the restaurant is homemade, and more importantly, prepared with the intention of providing a delicious meal. (Accompanied by friendly, efficient service). If you are anywhere near the Prati district (or if you aren’t near Prati but want a memorable a and authentic Rome dining experience), you should consider coming here.
(My mouth is watering as I am thinking about our return tomorrow to try some more of their...
Read moreMy wife and I ate at this restaurant on our honeymoon in rome. We stayed at the bed and breakfast next door the hotel roma vaticano. This restaurant seems to have two menus one is a special and the other a british/English menu. We didn't know if prices or dishes from one menu to the other were different but I guess it doesn't matter right. We both speak absolutely no Italian so the servers got their share of laughs and frustration at our expense. The food was a bit expensive as most the ristorante food is. We both got pasta dishes that we amazing. We don't drink wine so we can't tell you if it is good or not. We did realize they cater to locals and are not desperate for tourist business but they do appreciate it. The host and server were very polite and lightening fast with everything. They do not speak much English but we had a good experience. So to the point...... If your on this side of rome and find yourself looking for dinner this isn't a bad place to try. Good food and the same treatment you'll get anywhere else if you speak...
